The Longines Record is a collection of COSC-certified automatic watches with silicon balance-springs, offered in multiple sizes and configurations. This is a specification-led overview, not a hands-on test: the available evidence is Longines’ published product information, so it does not establish how a watch wears, how its finishing looks in person, or how accurately an individual example keeps time.
What the Longines Record collection offers
Longines describes the Record Collection as automatic watches whose movements are COSC chronometer-certified and use silicon balance-springs. The lineup pairs traditional styling—including white dials with Roman numerals—with modern movement features. Case size, material, dial and strap vary by reference, so collection-level descriptions should not be taken as specifications for every model.
Longines’ US listing for the 40 mm Record L2.821.4.11.6 is the most fully documented example here. Check the specific reference and your regional Longines site for the current configuration and price.

What is specified on the 40 mm L2.821.4.11.6?
Longines lists this reference with a 40 mm stainless-steel case and bracelet, a white matt dial, a date display and automatic caliber L888.4. The movement uses a monocrystalline silicon balance-spring and has a power reserve of up to 72 hours. The listed water resistance is 3 bar. The watch has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with several layers of anti-reflective coating on the underside, and its bracelet uses a triple-safety folding clasp with a push-piece opening mechanism.
Those are manufacturer-published specifications. They do not establish the comfort of the bracelet, the legibility in particular lighting, or the measured timekeeping of an individual watch.
How to choose among the documented sizes
The references differ most clearly in diameter and stated reserve: the 26 mm model is rated up to 45 hours, while the 38.5 mm and 40 mm examples are rated up to 72 hours. A larger diameter does not, by itself, determine how a watch will fit; wrist shape and the watch’s other dimensions matter, and Longines’ cited listings do not provide a hands-on fit assessment here.
- Start with fit: compare the listed diameter with watches you already know sit comfortably. Try the exact reference on if possible rather than assuming that a small diameter difference will feel the same on every wrist.
- Check the movement and reserve: the 26 mm reference is listed with up to 45 hours; the two larger examples with up to 72 hours. These are maximum stated reserves, not a timing-accuracy measurement.
- Match the configuration: confirm the reference, dial, case material and bracelet or strap. The collection includes variants beyond the three steel-and-bracelet examples in the table.
- Compare the local listing: regional currency, pricing and availability differ, and product pages can change.
What COSC certification does—and does not—tell you here
Longines says the Record movements are COSC chronometer-certified. That is the collection’s stated certification credential; it is not a timing test conducted for this article, nor evidence of how a particular watch performs after leaving certification testing. No independent timing measurements or wearer observations are established by the cited product pages.
