The Longines Spirit Pioneer Edition (ref. L3.829.1.53.2) is a 42 mm, no-date automatic chronograph in Grade 5 titanium, finished with a matte black dial and neon-green accents. Its 16.5 mm case gives it substantial wrist presence; the appeal is a COSC-certified column-wheel movement, 100 m water resistance and a distinctive titanium-and-green design. The price figures available are dated launch prices and one retailer’s displayed offer—not a confirmed current Longines price.

Case, dial and wearing profile
The case measures 42.00 mm across, and Monochrome Watches reports a height of 16.50 mm. Titanium changes the wrist feel compared with steel, but no measured weight comparison is available here. The hands-on reviewer considered the case shape comfortable while noting that the watch is not especially thin or business-oriented. That is an individual impression, not a guarantee of fit; the diameter and thickness make trying it on useful if you prefer compact watches.
The front is protected by sapphire crystal with antireflective coating. A screw-in crown and interchangeable strap system round out the reported exterior specifications. The green stitching and dial accents add a bright contrast to the otherwise dark watch, while the engraved caseback marks this out from other Spirit chronographs.

Movement and chronograph
Longines specifies its exclusive automatic L688.4 movement, COSC-certified and equipped with a silicon balance-spring. Monochrome identifies the chronograph architecture as column-wheel and reports an approximately 66-hour power reserve. This combination gives the watch chronograph functionality alongside independent chronometer certification; the supplied sources do not provide independent timing-test results.
Water resistance and everyday use
The reported water-resistance rating is 100 m. Treat that as a specification rather than a blanket assurance for every water activity or the watch’s condition over time. Crown and caseback integrity, maintenance, and the manufacturer’s current guidance matter when deciding how to use any water-resistant watch.

Who is it for?
- Consider it if you want a titanium automatic chronograph with a dark, high-contrast design, no date, COSC certification and a column-wheel movement.
- Try it on first if you favor slimmer or smaller watches: the reported 42 mm diameter and 16.5 mm height create a substantial profile, even if the reviewer found the case shape comfortable.
- Compare it carefully if price is decisive. Use the exact reference and compare dated local quotes rather than treating historical launch prices or one retailer’s displayed special as current standard pricing.
