It is now discontinued: Lumo Bodytech went bankrupt in 2018, and Google Play tracking reports that the Android app was removed in 2024. Current app access and support are uncertain, so a used unit is difficult to recommend. The available evidence describes how it worked and what one historical reviewer experienced; it does not establish that Lumo Lift produced lasting posture or health benefits.
What was the Lumo Lift?
Lumo Lift was a clip-on wearable from Lumo Bodytech, designed to encourage posture awareness through vibration feedback. The sensor attached to clothing with a magnetic clasp and sat just below the collarbone. It was a posture coach, not a watch, medical treatment, or proven posture-correction device.
The archived Lumo Lift manual lists the sensor, magnetic clasp, an extra clasp, and a USB charger. It also says the companion app is needed for full access to data and settings.
How did Lumo Lift work?
- Attach it: Place the sensor below the collarbone and secure it with the magnetic clasp. The manual recommends snug clothing to keep it in position.
- Set a posture baseline: Sit or stand in the upright posture you want to use, then press the device to calibrate it.
- Respond to feedback: If the sensor detected a shift from that calibrated position, it was intended to vibrate as a prompt to adjust.
- Review data in the app: The app displayed posture summaries and basic activity measures. The manual advises recalibrating if alerts seem too frequent or too sparse.
That describes the intended operation, not proof that the device could reliably assess posture in every situation. The old manual’s compatibility information also does not establish that current app downloads, accounts, or services still work.

What did the historical hands-on review find?
In Wareable’s launch-era Lumo Lift review, the reviewer found posture detection effective and the device small and discreet. The review also noted that it required close-fitting clothing and that the app was basic. Most notably, the reviewer found the coaching alerts too frequent to be comfortable.
For step counts, that reviewer compared Lumo Lift with a Garmin Vivosmart over a week and reported differences of about 5–10%. This was one reviewer’s dated comparison, not an independent accuracy study or validation of the device’s posture sensing.

Battery life is also unclear. Wareable estimated about five days of use, while the archived manual gives an estimate of one to two days. Neither figure guarantees what a used unit will achieve; an older battery may hold less charge.
Is Lumo Lift still supported or usable?
A peer-reviewed review of commercial postural devices reports that Lumo’s company declared bankruptcy in 2018 and notes the resulting lack of technical support. Separately, a Google Play tracking page reports that the Android Lumo Lift app was removed from the store on February 26, 2024.

Those facts make the Lift a discontinued, unsupported product with uncertain app access. They do not prove that every existing app installation, iOS app copy, or individual sensor has stopped working. But because the manual says full data and settings require the app, buying a sensor without first confirming setup access could leave you with a device you cannot use as intended.
If you are considering a second-hand unit
- Confirm that you can install or access the app and complete account setup on your device before buying.
- Ask whether the original USB charger and both magnetic clasps are included.
- Check battery condition and ask for a clear return policy in case the sensor will not charge, pair, or calibrate.
- Treat a listing as used or remaining stock, not as a product with guaranteed support or app availability.
Does Lumo Lift have evidence of lasting benefits?
The available sources document the device’s design and historical reviewer impressions, but they do not establish Lumo Lift-specific lasting posture improvement or health benefits. A peer-reviewed review of commercial postural devices also describes broader limitations in empirical evidence for this product category. It is most accurate to think of the Lift as a feedback or habit-awareness aid—not a treatment or a demonstrated way to correct posture.

Research involving LUMOback should not be used to fill this gap: that was a different product worn around the lower back, not the collarbone-mounted Lumo Lift.
Who might consider it—and who should look elsewhere?
The Lift’s vibration-based approach may appeal to someone curious about posture reminders, but its discontinued status and uncertain app access are substantial practical barriers. If you need a currently supported wearable, compare products by where they attach and what movement they sense, how alerts and calibration can be controlled, whether they require snug clothing or another attachment, and whether their apps and support are active. Evaluate evidence for each specific device separately; a similar reminder feature does not mean equivalent design or proven results.
