Its day-at-12/date-at-6 layout, 100 m water-resistance rating and automatic ML143 make it a detailed everyday-style watch on paper. It is one of 1,000 reported examples, and it should not be confused with the redesigned 41 mm steel collection reported in 2023.
What exactly is the Pontos Day Date reviewed here?
“Pontos Day Date” covers multiple configurations and generations, not one unchanging model. This review focuses on reference PT6358-DLB04-630-5, the khaki-dial, black DLC limited edition introduced in 2022. Escapement’s review and Europa Star’s August 2022 press-release coverage report an edition of 1,000 pieces. Later reporting describes a separate, redesigned 41 mm steel collection with different dial and strap or bracelet choices.
The distinction matters when comparing photographs, specifications or listings: the dark case and green nylon strap belong to the 2022 limited edition, while the later collection uses steel cases and was reported with silver, anthracite and black dials.

Dial layout and everyday readability
The day display arcs below 12 o’clock, while the date sits in a square aperture at 6. That arrangement gives the two calendar indications their own space while leaving the central hands to show the time. Escapement describes recessed dial sections, black-and-white accents and a red seconds-hand tip; Europa Star also notes the luminous hands and contrasting minute track. These details suggest a dial designed to be visually layered without relying on color alone for every indication.
The hands use Super-LumiNova, according to the published specifications, but the cited coverage does not include a controlled lume or legibility test. Treat the luminous material as a feature, not a guarantee of performance in specific conditions.

ML143 movement: what the sources establish
The limited edition is specified with an automatic ML143, 26 jewels, a 4 Hz beat rate and a 38-hour stated power reserve. Its exhibition back exposes the movement. Escapement describes finishing that includes vertical Côtes de Genève, circular graining, colimaçon and a sun-brushed rotor.
For the later 41 mm steel collection, Monochrome identifies the ML143 as Sellita-sourced and reports the same jewel count, frequency and reserve. The available reporting does not support describing it as an in-house caliber. Neither source supplies a measured accuracy result or a service interval, so those should not be inferred from the movement specification.

Case, strap and wearing considerations
The black DLC-coated steel case gives the reviewed version a different look from the later steel models. At 41 mm across and 11 mm high, its published dimensions place it in a conventional contemporary wristwatch size, though actual fit depends on wrist shape and personal preference. Escapement describes short, downward-curving lugs and reports a comfortable fit in its review; that is one reviewer’s impression, not a fit guarantee for every wrist.
The dark green nylon strap and black DLC butterfly buckle reinforce the limited edition’s contrast between khaki, green and black. The Easy Strap Exchange system is described as allowing strap changes without tools. Before ordering an alternative strap, confirm compatibility with the exact reference and availability of the required fitting; the existence of a quick-change system does not establish universal third-party fit.

How the 2022 limited edition differs from the later steel collection
Monochrome’s 2023 report describes a redesigned 41 mm steel Pontos Day-Date collection, with silver, anthracite or black dials and leather-strap or three-link steel-bracelet configurations. It reported those watches as intended for the permanent collection at the time. That is historical collection status, not confirmation of present stock.
| Feature | 2022 limited edition | Later steel collection, as reported in 2023 |
|---|---|---|
| Case | Black DLC-coated stainless steel | Brushed and polished stainless steel |
| Dial choices | Khaki sunray | Silver, anthracite or black |
| Strap or bracelet | Dark green nylon strap | Leather strap or three-link steel bracelet |
| Availability context | Reported as a 1,000-piece edition | Reported as intended for the permanent collection in 2023; present availability is unverified |
| Historical price context | €2,100 RRP as of 1 November 2022, per Escapement | CHF 1,900 on strap and CHF 1,950 on bracelet at the 2023 launch, per Monochrome |
The prices are dated, region-specific reference points—not current quotes and not directly comparable currency values. Earlier Pontos Day Date models also appear in a retailer archive, including 40 mm round and rectangular watches; those are distinct designs and should be checked by exact reference rather than treated as versions of either 41 mm watch.

Is the Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day Date worth buying?
The 2022 reference is most compelling for a buyer who specifically wants its khaki-and-black color scheme, DLC case, day-and-date display and limited-edition status. Its published specifications combine a sapphire front crystal, exhibition back, 100 m rating and a detailed automatic movement presentation. The strongest reasons to pause are practical: it is a defined 1,000-piece edition, current stock and pricing are not established here, and the cited coverage does not supply independent timekeeping or durability testing.
If the black DLC and khaki treatment are not essential, the later steel collection offers a different route to the same broad day-date format, with more conventional dial colors and strap or bracelet choices as reported in 2023. Check the precise reference before comparing listings. The current official Pontos Day Date page did not expose model specifications in the captured content; that absence does not prove the collection has been discontinued. Confirm live availability and price with Maurice Lacroix or an authorized seller.
