The MB&F HM6 Final Edition is the closing, eight-piece version of the HM6 series, presented in stainless steel with a sculptural, sapphire-rich case and a one-minute flying tourbillon. Launch coverage in January 2019 reported an original price of CHF 210,000 excluding taxes; that is a historical retail figure, not a current asking price or valuation.
What changed for the HM6 Final Edition?
MB&F described the Final Edition as the end of the HM6 series, which began in 2014. It used stainless steel and was limited to eight pieces. The brand framed the watch as the series’ “supernova” finish in its HM6 archive and 2019 press material.
The edition’s most visible change is the larger sapphire dome above the flying tourbillon, intended to reveal more of the rotating cage. MB&F also gave the steel case deeply grooved polished lines that run from the turbine pods toward the time-display spheres, set against satin-drawn surfaces. Blue details distinguish the edition: the platinum oscillating weight has blue PVD coating, and the hour and minute spheres have blue surfaces with luminous markings. Launch reporting also specifies a blue alligator strap and a stainless-steel folding clasp.
The HM6’s biomorphic form reflects MB&F’s stated inspiration from the Japanese animated series Capitaine Flam, known in English as Captain Future. The Final Edition retained the broader HM6 design language while giving its last version a specific steel, blue and expanded-tourbillon presentation.

How the HM6 mechanism works
Flying tourbillon with a retractable shield
A flying tourbillon sits at the centre of the three-dimensional movement and completes one rotation per minute. A retractable shield can cover or reveal it. The Final Edition’s enlarged sapphire dome makes the rotating cage more exposed when the shield is open.

Turbines regulate automatic winding
Twin turbine pods are linked to the winding system. As the rotor turns, the turbines spin and create air resistance, which regulates the winding action. They are part of the watch’s mechanical system, not decorative fan-shaped ornaments.
Time shown on semi-spherical displays
The hours and minutes appear on semi-spherical indications oriented perpendicular to the movement. Conical gears transmit the drive to these displays, giving the watch its distinctive, raised time readout rather than a conventional flat dial.

What was the original price?
Monochrome Watches reported a launch price of CHF 210,000 excluding taxes in January 2019. Quill & Pad’s SIHH-era coverage gave $215,000 / CHF 210,000 plus applicable taxes. A third-party-hosted MB&F press-material page listed €232,050. These are historical launch-era prices presented in different currencies and tax terms; they should not be treated as directly comparable or converted into a present-day market value.
MB&F’s archive and press material establish the eight-piece limitation, but the cited launch-era sources do not establish whether any pieces are currently available or what they sell for on the secondary market.

How the Final Edition fits into the HM6 family
MB&F’s archive identifies several distinct HM6 variants: the HM6 Ti in Grade 5 titanium, HM6 RT in red gold and titanium, HM6-SV with sapphire plates and a precious-metal band, Alien Nation in sapphire with white-gold figures, and the HM6 Final Edition in stainless steel. These are separate editions with different materials and design treatments; the Final Edition’s eight-piece count and launch price should not be assumed to apply to the others.
