MB&F’s 2023 HM9 Sapphire Vision additions paired a yellow-gold frame with a green movement and a white-gold frame with a blue movement. Each colourway was limited to five pieces. The two editions share the HM9-SV’s unusual twin-balance, differential-driven movement and transparent sapphire case; the documented differences are colour and frame metal, not performance.
What changed in the 2023 editions?
MB&F added two combinations to the HM9-SV range: yellow gold with a green PVD-coated movement, and white gold with a blue PVD-coated movement. The manufacturer’s 2023 specification sheet lists five pieces for each edition.
The blue movement is not unique to the new white-gold model: an earlier HM9-SV paired blue PVD with a red-gold frame. The 2023 range sheet lists six combinations in all:

The two new colourways share the same documented core architecture. The sources do not establish any difference in timekeeping performance between them.

How does the HM9-SV movement work?
MB&F says the movement has two independent balance wheels. Each supplies timing data to a central planetary differential, which averages the outputs into one time reading. The hours and minutes are displayed vertically.
For the Sapphire Vision editions, the maker also lists two spherical propellers beneath the balance wheels. They are part of the movement’s visual design; the specification does not identify them as a separate timekeeping function. MB&F founder Maximilian Büsser called the movement “the most beautiful movement we’ve created to date” on the brand’s HM9 page.

What makes the case transparent?
The HM9-SV’s case is built from sapphire crystal with a frame in 18K white, yellow or red gold. MB&F describes a segmented case assembly sealed by a patented three-dimensional gasket. The current HM9 overview gives dimensions of 57 × 47 × 23 mm and a maker-rated water resistance of 3 ATM (30 m); that rating is a specification, not a recommendation for swimming or diving.
Time+Tide reported in August 2023 that MB&F estimated approximately 350 hours of machining and polishing to prepare the crystals for one case. That is a manufacturer-attributed figure reported by the publication, not an independent measurement. MB&F’s 2023 specification sheet lists five anti-reflective sapphire crystals for the Sapphire Vision watch.

Time+Tide and Monochrome Watches reported a 2023 launch price of CHF 420,000, US$490,000 or €440,000, excluding VAT or other taxes. Those are historical launch figures, not a current quote. Time+Tide said the editions were available for inquiries at launch, but the cited sources do not establish present-day stock or pricing.
