Yes—but June 20, 2025, was the announcement and debut date, not the preorder date. Meta and Oakley unveiled the Oakley Meta HSTN AI glasses that Friday at Fanatics Fest; Meta said preorders for a limited-edition version would begin July 11.
What happened on June 20
Meta and Oakley announced Oakley Meta, a line Meta described as “Performance AI glasses.” Its first model was HSTN (pronounced “HOW-stuhn”), based on Oakley’s HSTN style and presented for athletes and fans. The glasses made their debut at Fanatics Fest on June 20, 2025.
The distinction matters: the event was not a general retail launch. Meta’s announcement set a later preorder date for the limited-edition HSTN and said the rest of the collection would arrive later that summer.
What Oakley Meta HSTN was announced to do
Meta described HSTN as combining a camera, open-ear speakers, voice controls and Meta AI. The company’s examples included recording point-of-view video hands-free and asking Meta AI about conditions such as wind or surf. Those examples and specifications are manufacturer claims, not independent performance findings.

Phone, account and regional requirements
Oakley’s current HSTN listing says use requires a smartphone running Android 10 or later or iOS 14.4 or later, wireless internet access, a valid Meta account and the Meta AI app. Oakley cautions that Meta AI features are available only in selected countries and languages, so owning the glasses does not guarantee that every AI feature works in every location.
HSTN was not the only Oakley Meta model announced later
Meta introduced Oakley Meta Vanguard in a separate announcement on September 17, 2025. Vanguard was positioned for high-intensity sports and announced with Garmin and Strava integrations, IP67 dust and water resistance, a $499 price and an October 21 launch. It is a later, distinct model—not the HSTN announced in June. The available company specifications do not establish an independent performance winner between the products.
