Gear Patrol’s historical report is useful for identifying the model and its reported features, but it does not establish what Michelsen sells today.
A second 2013 account, published by Master Horologer on February 2, reported a 42 mm stainless-steel case, three dial colors and an ETA 2893-A2 Top execution. These are that article’s reported specifications; a current manufacturer specification sheet was not located. Master Horologer’s article is the source for those details.
What movement does the Michelsen Arctic Explorer use?
Gear Patrol identifies an ETA 2893-A2 automatic movement, and Master Horologer specifies the Top execution. Both descriptions are from 2013 coverage. The available material does not include a current official specification or model manual, so it cannot verify whether every Arctic Explorer variant uses that exact execution.

How does the Michelsen Arctic Explorer GMT hand work?

Master Horologer reports a 42 mm stainless-steel case. That measurement is a useful starting point, but the available coverage does not establish lug-to-lug length, thickness, lug width or a current fit assessment. Wrist presence depends on those dimensions as well as case shape and strap choice, and the sources do not provide enough information to predict fit precisely.
What do the historical water-resistance and cold claims mean?
Water resistance
Gear Patrol lists water resistance to 100 meters. That is a specification reported in the 2013 article, not evidence that a particular watch—especially a pre-owned example—remains water-resistant. Seals age, and a case can lose its integrity through wear, impact or prior service. Have a qualified watchmaker test the individual watch before exposing it to water; do not treat the old rating as permission to swim with an untested example.

Cold-lubricant claims
The two historical accounts give different figures: Gear Patrol says the lubricants are safe to −58°F, while Master Horologer says the oils withstand −50°C. Without primary documentation resolving the discrepancy, neither number should be treated as a definitive operating limit. These reported lubricant claims also do not establish an independently tested temperature range for the complete watch.

Is the Michelsen Arctic Explorer still available?
Current stock, authorized sellers, warranty coverage and return terms were not established. Gear Patrol’s article gives an approximate price of $1,900 in its 2013 coverage; that is a historical figure, not a current asking price or valuation. An old “Buy Now” link does not prove that the watch remains available.
The name can also cause confusion: ÁIGI sells a separate Arctic GMT. Its movement, price and strap information belong to that different watch, not to the Michelsen Arctic Explorer. ÁIGI’s product page identifies the distinct product; it does not establish compatibility with Michelsen parts or straps.

What to check before buying a pre-owned Michelsen Arctic Explorer
