SERICA is a Paris-founded independent watch brand whose collection has grown from a field watch into dive, travel, and dress-oriented models. Whether it represents a “revival of the affordable good watch” depends on what you compare it with: the available prices document what SERICA costs, but do not establish that it is inexpensive relative to other watches or to the full cost of ownership.
What is SERICA, and how did its collection develop?
SERICA says it was founded in Paris in 2019 by Jérôme Burgert and Gabriel Vachette. Its first watch was the W.W.W., short for “Wrist Watch Waterproof.” The brand’s own timeline traces a deliberate expansion beyond that field-watch beginning:
- 2020: Ref. 4512.
- 2021: Ref. 5303 diving watch.
- 2022: Ref. 8315 GMT.
- 2023: The brand’s stated transition to Swiss chronometers.
- 2024: Ref. 1174 Parade, its first dress watch.
SERICA describes its watches as Swiss-designed mechanical instruments, emphasizing use, precision, and considered proportions. That is the company’s own design philosophy, not an independent assessment of every model’s performance. SERICA’s history sets out the brand’s chronology and positioning.

Treat that as SERICA’s stated claim; confirm the documentation for the particular watch you are considering. See the official catalog for current models and details.
What does the SERICA 7505 offer?
The Ref. 7505 is a useful example of SERICA’s compact field-watch approach. A 2026 hands-on review by Fratello reports a 35 mm case, 41.5 mm lug-to-lug length, and 9.5 mm thickness. It lists a double-domed sapphire crystal, 200 m water resistance, and a COSC-certified Soprod M100 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. These specifications are reported by that review, not independently verified here.

- Automatic movement means that this timeless watch powers a quality Japanese-automatic movement with the simple movement of your arm.
The review describes black, olive-green, and two-tone tuxedo dial versions on a 20 mm Bonklip stainless-steel bracelet. Its reported prices were €1,090 for black or green and €1,190 for the tuxedo dial. Those are the prices given in the 2026 review, not a claim about today’s price or every market. The article was a partnership post, so its hands-on fit and design impressions should be read in that context. Read Fratello’s 2026 SERICA 7505 review.
For fit, diameter alone is not enough: lug-to-lug length and thickness also affect how a watch sits. The reported 41.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement helps explain why a 35 mm watch may still have a more substantial wrist presence than its diameter suggests. Try the watch on if possible, especially if you are choosing between a compact fit and a larger-looking field watch.

Is SERICA part of a revival of the affordable good watch?
“Affordable” is relative, and the evidence here does not define a comparison group. The 7505’s reported €1,090–€1,190 price is a substantial purchase, even if a buyer considers it accessible compared with other mechanical watches they are evaluating. It would be misleading to call SERICA broadly affordable without specifying the market, alternatives, and ownership costs.
A better way to judge value is to compare the exact references you might actually buy. Look at purchase price in the same currency and market, dimensions and fit, movement and documented certification, water resistance relative to intended use, bracelet or strap options, warranty, and after-sales service. The information cited here does not establish competitor prices, warranty terms, long-term reliability, or total cost of ownership, so those need to be checked separately.

What should you check before buying?
- Confirm the exact reference and price. Prices and availability vary by model and may change; verify them with SERICA or an authorized seller before purchase.
- Check certification for the specific watch. SERICA says all its watches are COSC-certified, but ask for the relevant documentation for the individual model or unit.
- Assess fit using more than case diameter. Compare lug-to-lug length and thickness, and try it on if you can.
- Verify accessory fit. SERICA says its Expedition bracelet was designed originally for the 8315 and fits its sports references using existing guilloché end-links. Its catalog also lists Sport rubber straps. Confirm compatibility and current options for your particular reference before ordering.
- Ask about service and warranty. The sources cited here do not establish warranty terms or after-sales arrangements, so get those details from the seller before committing.
