MICROMILSPEC describes itself as a Norwegian watch company specializing in custom projects for military units, first responders and select organizations. It says it began in Oslo on May 29, 2019, and signed its first contract four days later: an order for 330 custom watches for the Royal Norwegian Air Force Search and Rescue Squadron, commonly known as 330 Squadron. Are MICROMILSPEC watches actually issued to military units?
Some are documented as custom projects developed with named military units. MICROMILSPEC’s published client list includes 335 Squadron, Asymmetric Warfare Group, 1. Frigate Squadron, French Special Forces, Armoured Battalion, Paratroopers NO, His Majesty The King’s Guard in Norway, Telemark Battalion and Paratroopers SWE. That evidence supports describing specific watches as custom collaborations for named units. It does not establish that each listed unit formally procured watches for all personnel, that a public tender was used, or that every watch in the company’s retail collection has military issue status. “Military-issued” should therefore be applied to a particular documented project only when its issue or procurement status is established—not used as a blanket label for the brand’s collection.
How do custom projects differ from the public collection?
A custom project is made in collaboration with a client organization; a public model is presented for civilian customers through MICROMILSPEC’s own collection and authorized-retailer routes. The company’s site lists professional models including Field Testing Unit, Milgraph, Milgraph Sabotage and Combat Diver, and its broader collection includes Fieldmaster, Milgraph variants, Pilot Series Worldtimer, Dualtimer and a civilian edition of Field Testing Unit. The public model name alone does not establish a link to a military unit. When evaluating a particular watch, look for a specific collaboration or procurement account, then assess the model’s published specifications separately. For example, an organization’s name or military-inspired design does not by itself show that the watch was formally issued.
Where are MICROMILSPEC watches made?
MICROMILSPEC is based in Oslo and describes its watches as Swiss Made. Those statements identify the company’s base and the watches’ stated origin designation; they do not, by themselves, establish that every design, production or assembly step occurs in one country. What design features does the company highlight?
MICROMILSPEC describes its signature case as octagonal and 12 millimeters high. It also highlights angled lugs, an integrated bracelet with removable links, and a proprietary insert intended to create a close-fitting connection between strap and case. VOYAGEUR illustrates the difference between a custom unit project and a public-facing edition. In a March 27, 2025 announcement, MICROMILSPEC said members of Norway’s 132nd Naval Security Unit created the custom timepiece. The company described that project watch as a 25-piece, made-to-order model and announced a civilian edition for online ordering on the same date. The company announcement gave the VOYAGEUR specifications as a brushed stainless-steel case rated to 20 ATM (200 meters), Swiss Made automatic movement with date, sapphire crystal, a sea-inspired dial and a compass bezel.
