The MIDO Multifort Powerwind is a retro-styled automatic watch collection that joined MIDO’s permanent lineup in 2023. The two references shown on MIDO’s currently checked international collection page pair the same 40 mm case, day-date display and up-to-80-hour power reserve with either a blue dial and steel finish or a champagne dial and yellow-gold PVD-coated steel.
What is the MIDO Multifort Powerwind?
It is a modern Multifort collection named after MIDO’s historical Powerwind movement. MIDO says the “Powerwind” movement was first produced in 1954, giving rise to a model that bore the name. The current watch uses the name for an automatic day-date design; that history does not mean the modern watch uses the original 1954 movement. MIDO’s international collection page gives the brand’s account.
Monochrome Watches reported on 31 May 2023 that the models were joining MIDO’s permanent collection after an earlier limited edition. Its launch account described three variants: black- and blue-dial steel versions and a champagne-dial version with yellow-gold PVD coating. MIDO’s currently checked international listing shows two products, the blue and champagne/PVD references. That difference reflects the pages and dates consulted; it does not establish that a black-dial model has been discontinued in every market. Monochrome’s 2023 introduction documents the launch lineup.
Which Multifort Powerwind models are currently documented?
The current MIDO product pages consulted document these two references. Their shared dimensions and functions make dial colour and case finish the main visible distinctions.

What are the Multifort Powerwind specifications?
MIDO’s current pages list the same core specifications for both documented references:
Rank #2
- Swiss Made Watch
- Movement: Automatic Mido Caliber - Power reserve 80 hours
- Case Type: Stainless steel with yellow gold PVD coating - See-through case back
- Case Size: 40mm - Band Width: 19mm - Case Thickness: 12.05mm
- Crystal: Sapphire crystal
- Case: 40 mm diameter and 12.1 mm average thickness; the blue model is 316L stainless steel, while the champagne model is 316L steel with PVD coating.
- Crystal: Sapphire with anti-reflective coating on the underside, as listed for the blue reference.
- Water resistance: 5 bar, equivalent to 50 m or 165 ft, for both models. This is a rating, not a claim that the watch is suitable for every activity at that depth.
- Display and functions: Analog time display with day and date functions.
- Movement: Automatic, with a stated power reserve of up to 80 hours.
MIDO describes the champagne model’s Nivachron balance spring as a titanium-based alloy intended to reduce magnetic interference and resist impacts. That is the brand’s description of the component, not an independent performance test of the watch.
Movement details reported at launch
Monochrome’s 2023 launch specifications identify the movement as MIDO Calibre 80 / ETA C07.621, with 25 jewels, a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and hacking seconds. These details come from that dated launch account; the current official product pages consulted confirm automatic operation and the up-to-80-hour reserve but do not display all of those movement specifications.

On 7 October 2026, MIDO listed the blue reference at CHF 950 and the champagne/PVD reference at CHF 1,100 as Swiss-market recommended retail prices including VAT. The gold-tone PVD version therefore carries a CHF 150 higher listed price on that storefront. These are not universal prices: taxes, retailer pricing, stock and availability may differ outside Switzerland or change over time.

What should you check before choosing a reference?
- Choose by finish: the blue model has a conventional steel case and blue dial; the other documented version has a champagne dial and gold-tone PVD-coated steel.
- Match the exact reference: use the full model number when checking a retailer listing, since the two versions have distinct references and strap references.
- Confirm strap compatibility: MIDO lists 19 mm lugs for the blue model, but an arbitrary 19 mm strap is not necessarily an exact replacement. Check the fit and end links; the consulted champagne-model page gives a strap reference but not a lug width.
- Check local pricing and stock: the CHF figures above are Swiss storefront recommendations, not a guarantee of local retail price or availability.
