The Mido Multifort TV Big Date pairs a 1970s-inspired, TV-shaped case with a large date display at 12 o’clock. Its appeal is easy to identify: a less conventional silhouette, several dial and strap combinations, and a movement rated by Mido for up to 80 hours of power reserve. But “accessible” depends on the market and reference: the Canadian listing for one steel-bracelet model is CA$1,790, while its launch prices in Switzerland in 2023 were CHF 1,070 on rubber and CHF 1,100 on a bracelet.
What makes the Multifort TV Big Date distinctive?
Mido introduced the contemporary Multifort TV Big Date in 2023, drawing on its 1970s-era TV-shaped case design. The rounded rectangular outline gives it a different presence from the familiar round steel sports watch, while the integrated-looking case and bracelet combinations keep the design firmly in the sporty-chic category.
The headline display is a big date at 12 o’clock. Mido says the mechanism uses two independently rotating discs and that its numerals are almost three times larger than those on watches of equivalent diameter. That size comparison is the brand’s claim; the useful point for a prospective owner is that the date has a prominent, deliberately symmetrical place on the dial rather than sitting discreetly at the edge.
The combination is distinctive without being complicated to explain: a geometric case, horizontal dial finishing on several versions, and a large date framed at the top. Dial colors and case treatments change the character substantially, so the reference matters as much as the collection name.

How does the case wear, and what are the specifications?
For reference M049.526.33.041.00, Mido Canada lists a 39.2 x 40 mm case, 11.5 mm average thickness and 22 mm lug width. It is a rectangular 316L stainless-steel case with PVD coating, a screw-down crown, see-through case back and sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating. The listed water resistance is 10 bar (100 m).
Those dimensions describe the case, not how it will fit every wrist. In a review published in 2024, Matthew Catellier said the watch wore especially well on his 6.5-inch wrist. That is one reviewer’s fit impression, not a sizing guarantee; wrist shape, preferred looseness and the way the case’s width sits across the wrist all affect comfort.

Catellier also praised the bracelet’s solid feel and alternating finishing. He preferred the green dial, with the charcoal/grey version close behind, and said the blue appeared especially dark. These are his subjective observations, not a universal ranking of the variants.
What movement and practical features does it offer?
The official regional product listings specify Mido’s automatic Caliber 80 with up to 80 hours of power reserve. “Up to” matters: it is the stated maximum, not a promise that every watch will deliver that duration under all conditions. Mido also says the movement’s Nivachron balance spring reduces magnetic interference and resists impacts; that is manufacturer language, not independently measured performance here.

The Canadian listing for reference M049.526.33.041.00 also specifies a two-year warranty. Its product page describes a blue dial and a stainless-steel bracelet with a rose-gold-colored finish, a detail specific to that listing rather than a defining feature of every Multifort TV Big Date.
Which Multifort TV Big Date versions are available?
The original 2023 launch included five references. The blue and grey dial options appeared on rubber straps and steel bracelets, while the green dial was listed with a steel bracelet. Mido’s later regional listings show that availability, reference numbers and prices vary by market.

Black PVD with orange accents
Swatch Group’s November 2024 announcement covered another distinct treatment: a black PVD-coated steel case and bracelet, a grey-to-black horizontally brushed dial, and orange accents and luminous material. This is not the same finish as the uncoated steel launch references, nor does it describe the whole collection.

Strap options
Mido Canada lists alternate 22 mm straps, including blue, orange, grey, black and brown rubber or fabric options, as well as a stainless-steel strap. That establishes official options in that market, not universal stock or guaranteed compatibility for every third-party strap. Confirm the exact reference and attachment before buying a replacement.

Monochrome Watches characterized the watch as an affordable, elegant option in the steel sports-watch category when it covered the 2023 launch. The CHF 1,070 rubber and CHF 1,100 bracelet prices explain that period-specific assessment. Today, “accessible” is not a universal price category: the CA$1,790 Canadian listing for reference M049.526.33.041.00 is a different currency, date and configuration, so it is not a like-for-like comparison with those launch prices.
For a design-led buyer, the value question is less about a single collection-wide price than about what each exact version offers: the dial and finish you want, a bracelet or strap, and the regional price attached to that reference. The case shape and oversized date are the reasons to consider it; the rectangular footprint and strong visual identity are also reasons to try it on rather than infer fit from the measurements alone.
Quick Recap
What to check before choosing one
- Reference and finish: distinguish standard steel from black PVD, and verify any colored coating or bracelet detail on the exact listing.
- Dial and strap: compare the blue, grey and green combinations, plus rubber versus bracelet versions; the same collection name does not mean identical configuration.
- Local price and stock: use the regional Mido page or authorized local retailer, since listed prices and availability vary by geography and date.
- Fit: use the 39.2 x 40 mm case dimensions as a starting point, then assess how the broad, rounded-square outline and bracelet sit on your own wrist.
