Its appeal is clear, but so is the trade-off: at 42 mm wide and about 14.3–14.4 mm thick, it is a substantial watch. The blue reference reviewed by Time+Tide is M049.527.11.041.00; Monochrome also covers the black-and-yellow M049.527.11.081.00. The published measurements, package descriptions and prices below are attributed to those reviews, not to independent testing.
What makes the Multifort TV Chronograph distinctive?
The defining feature is the TV-shaped case: a broad, rounded-square outline that gives the watch a different profile from a conventional round chronograph. MIDO’s official video description calls the model a new role for the Multifort TV, “that of a chronograph!” MIDO’s official video description identifies the blue version as reference M049.527.11.041.00.
The blue dial is described by Time+Tide as blue fumé; Monochrome describes a blue-to-black or grey-to-black gradient, horizontal grooves, luminous markers and a date at 4:30. The layout adds chronograph registers to the hours, minutes, small seconds and date. The black-and-yellow M049.527.11.081.00 offers a more assertive color contrast, while retaining the same broad case concept.
How large and thick is it?
Both reviews report a 42 mm case width. Time+Tide gives a 14.3 mm thickness; Monochrome lists a 41.20 mm length and 14.40 mm height. These are source-specific measurements, so it is more useful to think of the watch as roughly 42 mm wide and 14.3–14.4 mm thick than to treat a tenth of a millimeter as definitive.

Time+Tide Managing Editor Jamie Weiss says he wore the watch for a month in Sydney and Bangkok and found that it “wears big.” He attributes the impression not just to the width and thickness but also to the broad dial opening and integrated-looking design. That is Weiss’s reported experience, not a universal fit assessment. Time+Tide also reports a weight of 208 g, a figure that helps explain why this is not a discreet, lightweight option.
Try it on if you prefer compact watches, have a smaller wrist, or need a case that slips easily under a close-fitting cuff. The angular silhouette may look distinctive, but it also occupies more visual space than the width alone suggests.

What do you get for the price?
The reviews describe the blue model as supplied with a steel bracelet and a second fabric or textile strap, though their wording differs. Time+Tide specifies a three-link steel bracelet with butterfly clasp plus a blue textile strap with pin buckle. Monochrome describes an integrated steel bracelet and an additional blue or black synthetic-fabric strap with pin buckle. Treat the exact alternate strap material and color as package details to confirm for the reference and market you are buying.
The bracelet gives the watch a more cohesive, sport-oriented look; the alternate strap offers a way to change its character without buying a separate watch. If the second strap is important to your decision, confirm its inclusion with the seller rather than assuming every regional package is identical.

Movement, water resistance and everyday functions
Both reviews identify an automatic Mido Caliber 60 chronograph with a reported 60-hour power reserve, 100 m water resistance, and sapphire crystals on the front and back. Those specifications make the Multifort TV Chronograph more versatile than a dress-only chronograph, while its size and weight remain the key everyday-wear considerations.
The sources disagree about the movement’s ETA base: Time+Tide names ETA A05.H31, while Monochrome gives ETA A05.951 and describes 7750 architecture. Without a current official technical confirmation, the base caliber should not be treated as settled. The shared description—Mido Caliber 60 automatic chronograph and 60-hour reserve—is the safer point of comparison.

Blue or black-and-yellow?
| Reference | Dial description | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| M049.527.11.041.00 | Blue fumé, per Time+Tide; blue-to-dark gradient descriptions also appear in Monochrome | A more restrained take on the TV case, though still visually broad and prominent |
| M049.527.11.081.00 | Black-and-yellow variant, as identified by Monochrome | Higher-contrast styling; confirm the exact package and current availability with the seller |
The available descriptions support a comparison of color and overall look, not a claim that one variant has better legibility or different technical specifications. Confirm the dial and included strap details against the exact reference before ordering.
