Panerai’s PAM00985 is a 47 mm Submersible made in a limited run of 19, with a blue recycled-PET strap and blue luminous details. Its launch edition also included several days of intensive training with explorer and Panerai ambassador Mike Horn among Arctic ice floes. In a 2019 interview, Horn said the point was to give owners an experience and a story to tell—not simply another watch.
What is the Panerai PAM00985?
PAM00985 is the limited Mike Horn Edition of Panerai’s Submersible dive watch. Panerai’s 2019 press kit describes a 47 mm case made from EcoTitanium, with a crown-protecting device, a unidirectional rotating bezel and an engraved caseback. The automatic P.9010 calibre has a 72-hour power reserve.
The technical sheet lists hours, minutes, small seconds, date and an immersion-time calculation, along with 31 jewels, two barrels and a frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour. Panerai specifies water resistance of 30 bar, or about 300 metres. These are the manufacturer’s stated specifications, not an independent test of a particular watch.
How PAM00985 differs from PAM00984
Panerai offered the Mike Horn Submersible in two versions. The PAM00985 was limited to 19 examples and tied to an Arctic training experience. PAM00984 was the non-limited version in the launch materials. Their documented differences are:

The Arctic training was part of the original limited-edition offer. The 2019 launch coverage does not establish that it can still be purchased or attended.
What Mike Horn said the watch was meant to represent
In Fratello’s April 22, 2019 interview, Horn described the watch as a way to attach an earned experience and personal story to an object: “So, the moment you buy it, you buy the experience. You don’t buy the watch. The watch is the means by which you have the possibility to tell your story.”

That framing helps explain why the limited version was distinguished by more than its blue details and 19-piece production run. The watch was presented alongside an Arctic experience, making the edition’s appeal partly about participation and memory. Horn’s statement describes his intention and perspective; it is not a claim about the watch’s technical performance.
What the 2019 interviews say about Horn’s environmental work
In the Fratello interview, Horn said: “We planted 6 million trees in the Amazon, we trained over 200 environmental ambassadors, we have 14 environmental active projects in the world.” Those figures are Horn’s own statements in that 2019 conversation, not independently audited totals.

In a separate Monochrome Watches interview published January 29, 2019, Horn said of the watch’s materials: “This type of watch is the exception now, but soon enough it will be the rule.” That is his view of where materials and watchmaking might go, not independent evidence that this model produced a quantified environmental benefit.
Panerai describes the case material as recycled titanium and the strap as recycled PET. The cited launch materials do not provide a lifecycle assessment or quantify the environmental impact of PAM00985. Material descriptions alone do not establish the total footprint of making, transporting, owning or servicing a watch.

What is known about price and availability now?
The Fratello and Monochrome articles cover the 2019 launch, while Panerai’s cited press kit documents the original edition and specifications. Those sources do not establish PAM00985’s current market price, present availability or the condition of any surviving example. Because the edition was limited to 19, anyone considering a pre-owned watch should verify its identity, condition and documentation with a qualified seller or watchmaker; no current listing or offer is established by the launch-era sources.
