The Mk II Fulcrum 39 is a 200 m automatic dive watch with a compact 39.5 mm bezel diameter and 47 mm end-to-end length—but its 14.1 mm thickness and 161.5 g bracelet weight make it more substantial than those first two dimensions suggest. Mk II offers date and no-date movements, with dive and 12-hour bezel options appearing across product pages. It is best considered a military-inspired tool-watch design, not a documented military-issued model.
What is the Mk II Fulcrum 39?
Mk II calls the Fulcrum 39 the second iteration of its Fulcrum series, following the original release in 2013. The company says it reinterprets elements of watches that U.S. Special Forces soldiers might have encountered in Vietnam or while training with UK counterparts. Mk II describes the concept as “A tool watch that wasn’t designed explicitly for the military but could have found a place there.” That is a design premise, not evidence that the Fulcrum was issued to military personnel. Mk II’s product description sets out the brand’s account.
Independent reviews also use terms such as “mil-spec-inspired” to describe the styling. That language should likewise be read as a description of design, not procurement history. Monochrome’s review provides independent context.

These are Mk II’s published specifications; they describe the watch but cannot establish how it will fit a particular wrist. The 47 mm length is relatively short, a point also noted by Monochrome. Fratello’s hands-on review says the case size and short lug-to-lug length make the watch wearable. Still, the 14.1 mm thickness and listed bracelet weight matter: the watch may feel taller and heavier than its diameter alone implies. Fratello’s review offers an independent wearability perspective, not a guarantee of fit for every wearer.

Date and no-date movements
Mk II specifies a Miyota 9015 for date models and a Miyota 90S5 for no-date versions. The company describes both as made in Japan and says its watches are timed in three positions. Their functional differences are summarized below; confirm the exact combination on the individual product page, since the catalog includes multiple variants. Mk II’s Fulcrum specifications and its no-date product page provide the published details.
| Configuration | Movement | Published functions |
|---|---|---|
| Date | Miyota 9015 | Custom-printed date wheel, quickset date, hacking seconds and manual winding |
| No date | Miyota 90S5 | No ghost date position, hacking seconds and manual winding |
Monochrome’s review reports a 42-hour power reserve, 24 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour for the movements. Those figures are from that independent review, rather than the cited Mk II specification page. Read Monochrome’s review.
Choosing a bezel and a way to wear it
Dive bezel
The 120-click unidirectional dive bezel is the straightforward choice for timing elapsed minutes, including during a dive. It is the more conventional option if that timing function is what you want from a dive watch.

12-hour bezel
A 12-hour bezel supports a different task: tracking a second time zone by aligning the bezel with the hour hand. Mk II lists this configuration on a no-date product page, but verify the current listing for the exact movement and bezel pairing you want.

Bracelet or strap
The bracelet has quick-release bars, tapers from 20 mm to a 16 mm NodeX clasp, and is listed at 161.5 g for the watch on bracelet. Mk II also describes pass-through strap options. The 20 mm lug width gives you a sizing reference for replacement straps, but check attachment compatibility before buying. A strap can be a lighter alternative to the steel bracelet; Mk II’s quick-release arrangement means a spring-bar tool is not specified as necessary for bracelet changes.

The published specification combines a bead-blasted 316L case, double-domed sapphire crystal, 200 m water resistance, screw-down crown and Japanese automatic movements. Mainspring discusses the deeply set anodized aluminum bezel insert alongside the crystal, crown and case construction. These are useful details for judging the Fulcrum’s design and service-oriented choices, but they do not establish a quantified durability advantage or predict service life. Mainspring’s review explores those construction choices.

At the time reflected by the manufacturer pages cited here, standard Fulcrum 39 listings showed $995, while a special-edition page showed $1,195. Standard listings also showed sold-out status or a future-release indication. These are Mk II page prices and status, not a guarantee of present availability or a final checkout total; taxes, shipping and second-hand prices are not established by those listings. Check the relevant date model page or no-date model page before making a purchase.
The practical value question is whether the published materials and features match your priorities at the price currently offered. The short end-to-end dimension and wearable proportions noted by independent reviewers are appealing, while the thickness and bracelet weight are worth accounting for if you prefer a slim or especially light watch. Neither materials nor review impressions substitute for trying it on.
