The Moeris 007 is a vintage Swiss watch bearing James Bond branding and a Sean Connery portrait on its caseback. It is commonly reported as a 1966 licensed watch, but the evidence supports calling it Bond-branded memorabilia—not a watch established as having appeared in an EON James Bond film.
What is the Moeris 007 James Bond watch?
It is a vintage watch produced under a James Bond licence, with 007 branding and imagery of Connery, the actor who played Bond in the early films. Watch-history sources commonly date the licensed Moeris to 1966. Fratello Watches author Tomas Rosputinsky notes that he found no hard proof for the more specific claim that it debuted at the Basel Fair that year, so that detail should be treated as unverified.
The phrase “the only original Bond-licensed watch” is a collector-journalism description, not proof that Moeris was the only watch ever licensed to use Bond branding. The defensible distinction is that the Moeris is described as an early officially licensed James Bond 007 watch, with a notably explicit Bond identity.
How to identify one
In Fratello’s 2022 feature, the most distinctive reported details are “James Bond 007” printed on the dial, a 007 signature on the crown, and an engraved Sean Connery portrait on the caseback. The examples described include an angular, chamfered rectangular case, a brushed dial and, on some versions, a date window at six.

Those details are not a complete specification: the feature describes examples and variants rather than a definitive catalogue. It reports steel and gold-plated cases, automatic and manually wound versions, and examples both with and without a date. A Bucherer-branded version is also mentioned, but its provenance is not established.
Was the Moeris 007 worn by James Bond in a film?
The available evidence does not establish that the Moeris appeared on screen in an EON-produced Bond film. A licence to use James Bond branding and a Connery portrait are not the same thing as evidence of a screen appearance. The independent film-watch reference catalogs watches identified in the movies, including watches in the early films, but the cited Moeris accounts describe a licensed collectible rather than documenting it on Bond’s wrist.

Swatch’s 007 watches are a separate, later example of Bond-themed products. In an official archive entry dated 26 February 2020, Swatch Group described six designs inspired by Bond films and a seventh, Q-themed watch designed with No Time To Die costume designer Suttirat Anne Larlarb. That announcement documents the collection, not its current stock or availability.
What is known about Moeris and the watch’s date?
Watch Wiki reports that Moeris was established in Saint-Imier in 1893, introduced a licensed Bond watch in 1966, became part of Rayville by 1974 and passed to Tissot ownership in 1980. Fratello repeats the broad chronology and says the brand appears to have ceased production after 1985. These are secondary watch-history accounts, rather than a primary corporate archive.

The best-supported concise date is therefore “commonly reported as a 1966 licensed watch.” Rosputinsky’s 2022 Fratello feature says of the Basel Fair launch claim: “I didn’t find any hard proof.” The more precise fair-release story should not be presented as settled.
What is not established about the Moeris 007?
- Production total: Fratello says production numbers are unavailable, so claims that assign a specific output or rarity count are not supported by these accounts.
- Complete model identification: No exact reference number or complete variant catalogue is established.
- Technical specification: The accounts do not establish a universal movement, water-resistance rating or specification shared by all examples.
- Current value or availability: The cited sources do not establish present market value or a verified live listing. A particular vintage example would need its authenticity, condition, originality and seller claims assessed individually.
Moeris 007 or a modern Swatch 007?
They answer different collector goals. The Moeris is a vintage licensed Bond collectible; Swatch’s documented collection is a modern Bond-inspired product line. The 2020 Swatch Group announcement confirms that the collection existed, but does not establish which models are currently offered or where they can be bought.
