The Montegrappa Chaos Automatic is a large, sculptural watch developed in collaboration with Sylvester Stallone and introduced in 2013. Its published specifications include a 54 × 43 mm case, Swiss ETA 2824 automatic movement and 10 ATM water resistance. Launch coverage documented limited silver and 18k gold editions, but those original prices are not current valuations. This is a specifications-based overview, not a hands-on wear test.

What is the Montegrappa Chaos watch?

Montegrappa presented the Chaos Automatic as a watch extension of its Chaos pen line and part of a broader Chaos collection. The July 2013 launch report says the watch was previewed at Westime’s West Hollywood boutique and describes it as a collaboration with Stallone. Stallone said the work involved collaboration, but the available account does not define his precise role in engineering or manufacture. It is therefore more accurate to call it developed in collaboration with Stallone than to attribute every technical or manufacturing decision to him. Europa Star’s July 2013 launch report

The design’s most conspicuous feature is its sculpted skull-and-serpent ornament, which extends around the case. A small engraved skull appears on the winding crown. On the dial, Roman numerals and luminous hands sit over a black, bi-level brushed-guilloché surface, with a date aperture at 3 o’clock.

The 54 × 43 mm figure is the published case size. Without a wear test, it does not establish how the watch fits a particular wrist or how comfortable it is over a full day.

How the editions differ

Europa Star’s 2013 coverage lists two case-material families, each offered with or without full-color enamel. Its reported production counts and launch prices are:

Edition Treatment Reported quantity 2013 reported launch price
Sterling silver Without enamel 333 pieces $6,200
Sterling silver Full-color enamel 333 pieces $6,400
18k gold Without enamel 33 pieces $85,750
18k gold Full-color enamel 33 pieces $85,950

Those counts amount to 666 silver watches and 66 gold watches across the two treatments, according to the launch report. The listed dollar amounts are 2013 launch prices, not today’s asking prices or evidence of resale value. Europa Star’s July 2013 launch report

Can you still buy a Montegrappa Chaos?

A Touch of Modern page for a sterling-silver enamel Chaos Automatic was marked “sale ended” and “sold out” when observed. That status applies only to that particular listing; it does not establish whether other editions are available, what a current fair price would be, or whether an Amazon listing exists. For a pre-owned example, ask the seller to identify the case material and enamel treatment and provide evidence supporting the edition. Check condition, provenance, completeness and seller authentication before comparing prices. The 2013 launch figures are historical reference points only; a live specialist listing and the watch’s specific documentation are needed to assess a present-day offer.
