A June 2024 certification listing showed a round OnePlus smartwatch with two buttons on its right side. It was widely suspected to be the OnePlus Watch 3, but OnePlus had not confirmed the product name. The watch that launched in February 2025 kept the round design, yet its official global battery specification differed from the 500mAh figure reported for the certified device.
What the certification image showed
The image published in June 2024 showed a circular watch face in a conventional watch-style case, with two physical controls arranged vertically on the right side. The silhouette looked broadly in line with the OnePlus Watch 2 and the Watch 3 that followed.
The image could not establish the display technology, case materials, bezel dimensions, strap attachment, or software. Those details should not be inferred from the outline alone. Android Headlines’ certification-based report is the source for the image and its visible design details.
What model OPWW234 and the other listings establish
Reporting identified the listed device as model OPWW234 and linked it to certification activity including Chinese MIIT, 3C, BIS and TÜV Rheinland records. A separate FCC-related device bears the similar model number OPWWE234. Taken together, these records support that OnePlus watch hardware was moving through regulatory processes; they do not establish the retail name, final software, worldwide release, or final configuration.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That distinction matters: regulatory records document a device submitted or assessed for particular requirements, not necessarily a finished consumer product under a confirmed brand name. Gizmochina’s June 2024 coverage also associated OPWW234 with the suspected Watch 3, but the name remained an inference at the time.
Reported connectivity, battery and charging
According to the June certification coverage, the associated listings indicated LTE with eSIM, GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, WLAN/Wi-Fi and NFC. The report also referenced support for China Unicom, China Telecom and China Mobile. Those operator references do not demonstrate compatibility with carriers elsewhere: LTE bands, eSIM provisioning and NFC functions can vary by market.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Battery: 500mAh was reported for the certification device.
- Charging: The 3C listing was reported as indicating 10W charging. That rating alone does not establish sustained power draw or a particular charge time.
- Adapter: The report said no charger was bundled with the certified device; this should not be treated as a universal retail-package detail.
A manual and test documentation associated with FCC model OPWWE234 also identify a 500mAh battery (FCC-related manual; FCC test documentation). That corroborates the capacity for related hardware, but does not resolve whether it was a regional or pre-production version of the eventual retail watch.
Why it was thought to be the OnePlus Watch 3
The Watch 2 had launched earlier in 2024, making a successor a plausible interpretation of a newly certified OnePlus watch. The reported model number appeared across several certification references, and the round design fit the existing Watch line. Hindsight adds another clue: the Watch 3 that OnePlus later unveiled also had a round case and right-side controls.

None of those clues confirmed the name in 2024. Certification authorities do not necessarily identify a device’s final marketing name, and a company may certify regional or engineering variants. The contemporaneous report itself left open the possibility that OPWW234 was another OnePlus-branded smartwatch.
What the official OnePlus Watch 3 changed—and confirmed
OnePlus officially unveiled the Watch 3 in February 2025; its U.S. press listing dates the announcement to February 17, while the company community announcement is dated February 18. The retail product validated the broad design direction, but not every detail attributed to the certification unit.

| Area | June 2024 certification reporting | Official Watch 3 information |
|---|---|---|
| Shape and controls | Round case with two right-side buttons | Round design with a redesigned rotating crown and physical controls |
| Battery | 500mAh reported for the listed device | 631mAh for the announced global Watch 3 |
| Charging | 10W reported from the 3C listing | OnePlus advertised fast charging, including a claim of one day of use from 10 minutes of charging |
| Platform | Snapdragon Wear successor was speculation, not a listing-confirmed specification | Wear OS 5 with Snapdragon W5 and BES2800 dual-engine hardware |
The battery gap is the clearest warning against treating the 2024 listing as a final specification sheet. It may reflect different hardware stages or variants, but the available information does not prove which explanation is correct. The 500mAh capacity should not be presented as the final global Watch 3 specification.
OnePlus stated battery-life claims of up to three days in heavy-use mode, five days in smart mode and 16 days in power-saving mode. These are manufacturer claims tied to the stated modes, not guaranteed results for every user. Qualcomm identifies the Watch 3’s platform as Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 on its official device page; OnePlus describes the broader W5/BES2800 dual-engine arrangement in its product announcement.

How much of the leak should be trusted?
The strongest conclusion is narrow: a real OnePlus watch design was shown in certification-related coverage, and it was a plausible early glimpse of hardware related to the Watch 3. The later product’s shape supports that interpretation, while the different global battery capacity shows why a certification listing and a retail specification sheet are not interchangeable.
- Visible in the image: circular case and two right-side controls.
- Reported from certifications: OPWW234 identity and connectivity, battery and charging details.
- Not confirmed by the 2024 listing: Watch 3 branding, worldwide carrier compatibility, final software, and final retail configuration.
- Confirmed later by OnePlus: the Watch 3’s launch and its global product specifications.
For the final product’s announcement and specifications, consult OnePlus’s U.S. press listing and its Watch 3 announcement. Features such as ECG can vary by region, as OnePlus notes in the announcement.
