Photos of the delivered package showed the retail box and its contents, but the report describes one early shipment, not a general launch or a full review.
What happened with the early Pixel Watch 3 delivery?
On August 31, 2024, 9to5Google reported that a customer in the Netherlands had received and photographed a 45mm Pixel Watch 3 in Matte Hazel. The date was roughly 10 calendar days ahead of Google’s announced September 10 release. The report included images credited to a Reddit user and described a physical package, making this a customer-delivered unit rather than a reported press sample. 9to5Google’s report and unboxing photos document the delivery.
The account does not establish who fulfilled the order or why it arrived early. It is evidence that at least one customer received a watch before release—not that Google intentionally launched it early, that other preorders would arrive ahead of schedule, or that stores broadly had it for sale.
What was inside the 45mm Matte Hazel box?
The photographed package used a brown box with a removable outer sleeve. After sliding the sleeve off, the recipient peeled a pill-shaped sticker from the back of the box, then pulled out two sliding compartments.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Lower compartment: the watch body, with translucent protective paper over its front. The USB-C charging puck was tucked underneath.
- Upper compartment: the bands, supplied detached from the watch, plus paperwork.
That separated layout and detached-band presentation are among the clearest differences visible in the unboxing compared with the first two Pixel Watch generations. The images show how this particular 45mm Matte Hazel package was arranged; they do not establish that every size or finish used identical packaging. The report documents a deliberate first-open presentation, not a broader sustainability claim.
How the early unit fits into Pixel Watch 3’s launch
Google announced Pixel Watch 3 in 41mm and 45mm sizes, with Wear OS 5 and a brighter display advertised at up to 2,000 nits peak brightness. Google said the 45mm model had 40% more screen area than Pixel Watch 2, while the 41mm model had 10% more. Its launch announcement also highlighted fitness features including Daily Readiness, Cardio Load, Target Load, Fitbit Morning Brief, Workout Builder, and running-form analysis. These are Google’s launch-era specifications and feature descriptions, not findings from the early unboxing. Google’s Pixel Watch 3 announcement contains the product details and availability terms.

Google announced availability on September 10, 2024, through the Google Store, Fitbit.com, and selected retailers worldwide. Its U.S. launch prices were:
| Pixel Watch 3 size | Bluetooth/Wi-Fi launch price (U.S.) | LTE launch price (U.S.) |
|---|---|---|
| 41mm | $349.99 | $449.99 |
| 45mm | $399.99 | $499.99 |
Those figures are the U.S. prices announced in 2024, not current 2026 prices. The photographed watch was the 45mm Matte Hazel version; it does not represent every launch configuration. Google’s launch materials also described up to 36 hours in Battery Saver mode, a company claim rather than an independently measured result in this unboxing.

What the unboxing can—and cannot—tell buyers
The photos offer an advance look at the retail presentation, accessory arrangement, and Matte Hazel finish. They do not report a complete first-boot experience or establish whether the watch could be fully paired or activated before release. Nor do they verify battery life, GPS accuracy, health-sensor performance, software stability, or the availability of every advertised feature on that unit.
Google said Pixel Watch 3 requires a Google Account, the Pixel Watch app, and internet access; some features require Fitbit and/or a paid subscription. LTE also depends on compatible carrier service, while health-related features can be subject to country availability and regulatory approval. Google announced Loss of Pulse Detection, but that does not mean it was available everywhere or active on the photographed watch.

The early delivery is therefore a small but useful packaging story: one customer got a retail-looking 45mm watch before its announced release and showed what was in the box. It offers no basis for assuming early availability, final software behavior, or a hands-on verdict on the watch itself.
