What did Naoya Hida release in 2024?
The Armoury identifies the Type 5A, Type 1D-2, Type 1D-3 and Type 3B-1 as the collection’s new models. They span a new rectangular case shape, precious-metal dress-watch details and a moonphase complication.

The prices and production estimates in the table are period-specific figures reported by Hodinkee in 2024, not current prices, confirmed stock or a statement of final production. The Armoury’s descriptions of the Type 1D models do not provide comparable launch prices or production counts.
What is the rectangular Naoya Hida Type 5A?
The Type 5A was the company’s first rectangular dress watch, according to The Armoury. Hodinkee reported a stainless-steel case measuring 33 mm long by 26 mm wide and 9.1 mm thick, with a 43.5 mm lug-to-lug. These are published specifications, not independent measurements.

Its two-part German-silver dial, hand-engraved indexes and box sapphire crystal give the rectangular format much of its visual character. Inside is the hand-wound Cal. 252SS, described in Hodinkee’s launch coverage as an angular movement. The cited reporting lists a launch-era price of US$21,300 and anticipated production of about 10 examples for 2024/2025; neither figure establishes what a watch costs or whether one can be bought today.
How do the Type 1D-2 and Type 1D-3 differ?
Type 1D-2
The Type 1D-2 pairs an 18K yellow-gold case with a silver friction-plated German-silver dial. The Armoury specifies 60 applied 18K yellow-gold minute scales and characterizes it as the brand’s first dress watch with a yellow-gold case.

Type 1D-3
The Type 1D-3 also uses an 18K yellow-gold case and 60 gold minute markers, but adds hand-engraved, Art Deco-inspired wave decoration to the case. The Armoury credits metal engraver Keisuke Kano for that case decoration.
The cited descriptions establish these design differences, but do not give comparable dimensions, movement specifications, prices or production totals for the two references.

What distinguishes the Type 3B-1?
The Type 3B-1 is the collection’s moonphase model. It adds an 18K rose-gold bezel and hands to the design, while its moonphase disc is made from lapis lazuli and carries a hand-engraved moon, as described by Hodinkee and The Armoury. Hodinkee reported a launch-era price of US$27,000 and approximately five examples for 2024/2025. Those reports are not a current valuation or confirmation of availability.
How does the collection fit Naoya Hida’s design approach?
The Armoury describes the company’s approach as combining vintage wristwatch and pocket-watch aesthetics with modern production technology and hand-engraved dial detail. That is the retailer’s characterization, rather than a formal mission statement from the maker. Fratello’s assessment of the 2024 range was that it retained the brand’s restrained small-watch sensibility while adding color and a rectangular form.

Across the four releases, those differences are concrete: the Type 5A changes the case geometry; the Type 1D-2 and 1D-3 center on yellow gold and, in the 1D-3, engraved case work; and the Type 3B-1 adds a moonphase display and lapis lazuli. The range is unified less by one complication than by careful material and surface choices.

The official 2 May 2024 announcement set an application window from 10:00 on 13 May to 10:00 on 16 May 2024. It said allocation was not first-come-first-served; if applications exceeded capacity, applicants would be told in early June whether they could purchase. NH WATCH TEAM’s announcement stated: “Applications are not accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, so there is no need to rush.” The application dates and process are historical, not a live ordering route.
