What to compare in a new GMT watch
“GMT” does not guarantee the same travel-time function on every watch. A traveller-style GMT lets you move the local hour hand independently, which is useful when crossing time zones while keeping the reference time set. An office-style GMT instead has a separately adjustable 24-hour hand; the available reporting identifies the Timex Atelier GMT Première as this type. Which models suit different priorities?
For a compact, dress-leaning GMT
The 38 mm Timex Atelier GMT Première is the smallest case among the models with a reported diameter here. Its sapphire crystal and Swiss automatic movement distinguish it from the Waterbury, but its office-style GMT operation is worth noting if you want to adjust local time quickly while travelling.
For a field-watch look at a UK catalogue price
Seiko’s UK catalogue lists the HDB001K1 and HDB002K1 Field GMT variants at £410 each. The catalogue information cited here does not establish their movement, dimensions, water resistance or GMT-hand operation, so compare the model page or retailer specifications before deciding whether they meet a particular use case.

For greater stated water resistance
The Alpinist GMT has the highest reported water-resistance figure in this selection at 200 m, alongside a 72-hour reserve, according to T3. That specification makes it a more overtly sport-oriented option on paper than the 50 m Timex models; it does not by itself establish suitability for every water activity.
