How to interpret the 1,000 m rating
Nivada Grenchen rates the watch at 100 ATM, equivalent to the stated 1,000 m rating, and specifies an automatic helium escape valve. That is the manufacturer’s rating for the product; it should not be read as independent verification of the particular watch in hand or as a recommendation to use any example for diving regardless of condition.
For a used watch or one with an unknown service history, the published rating cannot establish that its seals and case still meet specification. For any intended dive use, confirm the individual watch’s condition and pressure-test status with a qualified watchmaker or service provider.
