The NOMOS Club Campus 38 is an appealing hand-wound steel watch if you want a distinctive mixed-numeral dial, a slim profile and a 10 atm water-resistance rating. Its biggest practical caveat is fit: the 38.5 mm diameter is only part of the story, and lug-to-lug length differs between references. There is also an unresolved discrepancy in NOMOS’s published movement specifications for reference 735, so check the exact watch’s current technical details before buying.
What the Club Campus 38 is
The Club Campus 38 is a manually wound stainless-steel watch with a white silver-plated dial, Arabic and Roman numerals, and a bright orange seconds hand. NOMOS describes the combination of numerals as “bilingual.” Blue Superluminova on the numerals and hands is designed to glow in low light. The result is more playful than a conventional dress watch, while the restrained case and dial keep it versatile.
The official reference 735 listing specifies a screwed steel case, solid steel back, domed sapphire crystal and dimensions of 38.5 mm across, 8.5 mm thick and 48.9 mm lug-to-lug. The lug width is 20 mm. NOMOS rates it at 10 atm and describes it as suitable for swimming. How does the Nomos Club Campus fit?
Do not judge fit from the 38.5 mm diameter alone. Lug-to-lug length—the distance from the tip of one lug to the tip of the other—helps indicate whether the case will span your wrist or overhang it. Wrist shape and the way the watch feels during a try-on matter too.

In a March 28, 2026 hands-on article, Doug’s Watches reports 47.5 mm lug-to-lug for the 36 mm model and 48.9 mm for the 38 mm, and its writer says the watches wear large and that they preferred the 36 mm on a 6.5-inch wrist. Choose by how the case sits, rather than treating the nominal diameter as a complete fit guide. The available figures below show why trying on the specific size and reference is useful; the cited sources do not establish every detail for every 36 mm variant.

The fit impression from the 36 mm model is the cited writer’s personal experience; NOMOS’s product pages provide the reference-specific dimensions for the 38.5 mm versions. If the watch is near your size limit, compare lug span and wrist coverage in person when possible.

Reference 735 movement specifications: check the conflict
NOMOS’s current reference 735 product page identifies the movement as DUW 4001 and gives a power reserve of up to 53 hours. However, NOMOS’s official reference 735 fact sheet, marked as of May 2025, identifies the movement as Alpha and gives up to 43 hours. The published material cited here does not explain the difference, so it would be misleading to present either specification as definitively correct for every reference 735 currently offered.
Before purchasing, ask the seller or NOMOS to confirm the caliber and reserve for the exact SKU and check its current technical sheet. The 737 product page also lists DUW 4001 and up to 53 hours, but that does not settle the discrepancy for 735. NOMOS reference 735 fact sheet, status May 2025

Is the Club Campus water resistant?
NOMOS lists 10 atm water resistance for both references 735 and 737 and describes the 735 as suitable for swimming. Follow the manufacturer’s stated guidance and care instructions; the rating alone should not be extended into a recommendation for diving or all water sports.

Is the Nomos Club Campus worth it?
It is worth considering if you want a manually wound watch with an expressive dial, a sapphire crystal, a relatively slim 8.5 mm case and the maker’s stated 10 atm swimming suitability. The key buying checks are fit across the lugs and which reference you are actually considering: the 735 and 737 have different casebacks and listed lug-to-lug measurements, while the 735’s published caliber and reserve claims conflict. Confirm those details rather than assuming all Club Campus 38 watches are identical.
