The NOMOS Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer 790-series is the slimmer, more water-resistant option, while the Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer FC-718NWM4H6 is a larger watch that adds a date and sets its synchronized functions through the crown. This comparison uses those specific models as its baseline: Frederique Constant also makes FC-718 variants in other case sizes and configurations, so the family name alone does not guarantee the same dimensions or features.

At a glance: how the baseline models compare

Specification NOMOS Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer 790-series Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer FC-718NWM4H6
Case diameter 40 mm (NOMOS Glashütte, 2025; manufacturer product page) 42 mm (Frederique Constant, US product page accessed 2026; manufacturer product page)
Thickness 9.9 mm overall (NOMOS Glashütte, 2025; manufacturer product page) 12.1 mm (Frederique Constant, US product page accessed 2026; manufacturer product page)
Water resistance 10 atm / 100 m (NOMOS Glashütte, 2025; manufacturer product page) 5 bar / 50 m (Frederique Constant, US product page accessed 2026; manufacturer product page)
Time-zone controls Pusher advances the local hour and city disk together; a 24-hour subdial shows a second zone (NOMOS Glashütte product page) Crown-based adjustment of the 24 time zones; product functions include date (Frederique Constant product page; manufacturer collection page)
Movement and stated reserve Automatic DUW 3202; up to 42 hours (NOMOS Glashütte, 2025; manufacturer product page) Automatic FC-718; reserve not stated on the cited Classic baseline product page (manufacturer product page)
Official US price references USD 4,930 for blue 790.SB on the product page; the release page lists 790 and 791 from USD 5,370 and 792 at USD 5,580 (NOMOS Glashütte; product page; release page) USD 5,795 for FC-718NWM4H6 on the US product page (Frederique Constant; manufacturer product page)

These are manufacturer specifications and listed prices, not results from comparative wear or performance testing. Price references differ by NOMOS reference and page, and can change; check the exact model and current listing before buying.

Which one wears smaller and slimmer?

The NOMOS is the more compact baseline on the published dimensions: its 40 mm case is 9.9 mm thick, against 42 mm and 12.1 mm for the FC Classic FC-718NWM4H6. Those differences make the NOMOS the clearer specification-led pick for someone prioritizing a smaller diameter or lower profile. They do not establish which watch will feel more comfortable on a particular wrist; wrist shape, strap fit, and personal preference matter.

Frederique Constant’s range includes other FC-718 configurations, so the 42 mm figure should not be generalized to every Worldtimer bearing that movement family. For example, its FC-718N4H6 listing specifies a 40.5 mm case and 13.4 mm thickness, while the Highlife FC-718N4NH6B is listed with a 41 mm case. These are distinct references, not measurements of the Classic baseline (Frederique Constant FC-718 collection; Highlife FC-718N4NH6B product page).

How do their world-time controls differ?

NOMOS: pusher and city ring

The NOMOS dial places 24 city codes around its perimeter. Pressing the pusher advances the local hour and city disk together, while the separate 24-hour display at 3 o’clock tracks a second time zone. NOMOS describes the watch as moving between zones “in a click” while keeping track of home time; that is the maker’s description of the mechanism, not an independent ease-of-use assessment (NOMOS Glashütte product page).

Frederique Constant: crown-based setting

Frederique Constant says the Classic Worldtimer’s 24 time zones can be adjusted with one crown, without pushers or correctors. The baseline product’s function list also includes a date. That makes its interaction different from NOMOS’s dedicated pusher-and-city-disk approach; the available specifications do not establish which system is quicker or easier in practice (FC-718NWM4H6 product page; Frederique Constant collection page).

What do the displays and movements offer?

The NOMOS combines its city ring and local-hour setting with a dedicated 24-hour second-time display. Its automatic DUW 3202 movement is listed with a height of 4.8 mm and a power reserve of up to 42 hours (NOMOS Glashütte, 2025; manufacturer product page).

The FC Classic baseline combines a worldtimer display with hours, minutes, seconds, and date, according to its product listing. That page identifies the automatic FC-718 movement but does not state a power reserve. Frederique Constant lists a 38-hour reserve for the separate Highlife FC-718N4NH6B; that figure should not be transferred to the Classic FC-718NWM4H6 (Classic product page; Highlife product page).

How do water-resistance ratings compare?

NOMOS gives the Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer a 10 atm / 100 m rating; Frederique Constant lists 5 bar / 50 m for the FC-718NWM4H6 Classic. The published ratings favor NOMOS on this specification. A rating alone is not a recommendation for a particular water activity, so use the manufacturer’s guidance for the watch and its condition rather than treating the numbers as a universal activity guarantee.

Which is better value?

The official US references place the blue NOMOS 790.SB product-page listing at USD 4,930 and the FC-718NWM4H6 at USD 5,795. NOMOS’s release page, however, lists the 790 and 791 from USD 5,370 and the 792 at USD 5,580. The gap therefore depends on which NOMOS reference and page are being compared; these figures are not a clean like-for-like price verdict. Verify the exact reference, market, and current price before making a decision.

Neither the listed prices nor the specifications establish comparative value, accuracy, reliability, or buyer preference. The evidence supports a model-by-model specification comparison, not a hands-on or market-wide verdict.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose the NOMOS Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer 790-series if the 40 mm, 9.9 mm case, 10 atm rating, pusher-operated city/local-hour adjustment, or separate 24-hour second-zone display best matches your priorities.
  • Choose the Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer FC-718NWM4H6 if you prefer its 42 mm case, date display, or crown-based adjustment of the worldtimer functions.
  • Compare exact references if considering another FC-718. Case size and configuration differ across the Classic and Highlife families, and the Highlife’s stated 38-hour reserve does not establish the reserve of the Classic baseline.
