The NOMOS Glashütte Metro Neomatik 41 Update, reference 1165, pairs a 40.5 mm steel case with a perimeter date display marked by two bright-orange indicators. Its appeal rests on that unusual date layout and a restrained silver-and-gray dial; its main practical questions are whether the 47.5 mm lug-to-lug span suits your wrist and whether splash-proof water resistance matches your habits. What makes the Metro Neomatik 41 Update distinctive?
The visual centerpiece is the date ring. Rather than placing the date in a small window, NOMOS runs the numbered scale around the dial’s outer edge. Two neon-orange markers frame the current date, adding a vivid accent to an otherwise quiet display. A small-seconds subdial sits at six o’clock.
The white silver-plated, galvanized dial is paired with black oxidized hands and hour indices at 3, 9 and 12. The design was developed with Berlin product designer Mark Braun. NOMOS describes the Metro as urban in character; the concrete effect here is a sparse dial interrupted by a peripheral date track and its orange pointers. A 2021 review also noted the contrast between gray and orange, along with the polished case, narrow bezel, domed sapphire crystal and wire lugs (Time and Watches, July 7, 2021).
How does the ring date work?
The date is read at the perimeter where the two orange markers indicate the current number. NOMOS says the DUW 6101 date can be corrected in either direction, requiring only a few crown turns for an adjustment. The manufacturer’s movement explanation describes three crown positions: winding, date correction and time setting (NOMOS Glashütte DUW 6101).

NOMOS specifies a 90-minute interval during which the date should not be manually changed. That is an operating instruction for date correction, not evidence that ordinary daily use is unusually delicate. Follow the manufacturer’s guidance when setting the date rather than forcing an adjustment.
Will the 40.5 mm case fit your wrist?
The reference measures 40.5 mm across, 9.1 mm thick and 47.5 mm from outer lug tip to outer lug tip, according to the official NOMOS model page. Diameter alone does not settle how a watch will look: the lug-to-lug measurement is also important because it indicates the span across the wrist. At 47.5 mm, this is not a compact case by diameter, though its 9.1 mm height is relatively restrained on paper.

If you have a smaller wrist, compare the 47.5 mm span with the flat area across the top of your wrist and, where possible, try the watch on. Wrist shape and lug curvature affect fit, so a measurement cannot guarantee how it will wear. The available figures establish the case dimensions but do not establish a universal wrist-size cutoff.

The model page’s approximately 42-hour reserve is the relevant figure for this watch. NOMOS’s general DUW 6101 page says the caliber offers up to 50 hours, but that broader caliber-page figure is not the reference-specific specification. The same movement page supplies the 3.6 mm height and date-setting information (NOMOS Glashütte).

What should you expect from its water resistance?
NOMOS lists 5 atm and explicitly calls the watch splash-proof. Treat that wording as the practical limit of the published guidance: it supports ordinary splash exposure, not a recommendation for swimming or diving. The woven textile band is described as water-resistant, but that does not change the manufacturer’s stated use guidance for the watch as a whole.

Prices vary by market and date, so these published figures are snapshots rather than a like-for-like comparison. NOMOS’s Swiss regional product page displayed CHF 4,120 when retrieved in 2026. Wempe’s US listing displayed $5,290 before tax and marked the watch available at retrieval in 2026 (Wempe US listing).
