The release brings the family’s patented peripheral ring date to a gold watch for the first time, in a new 38.5 mm case size.
What is new about the Tangente neomatik 38 Update?
The headline change is the combination of a 38.5 mm case and the Update family’s peripheral date display, now offered in 18K gold. The event organizer describes the launch as the first gold timepiece to carry NOMOS’ patented ring date. The three-reference release includes one steel execution and two gold versions, with different hand colors.

The 38.5 mm diameter sits between the 35 mm and 41 mm Update models discussed in launch coverage. The new case is 7.4 mm thick, according to Fratello’s published specifications. Those dimensions describe the watch; they do not determine how it will fit a particular wrist.
How the ring date works
Rather than placing the date in a small window, the Tangente Update uses a scale around the edge of the dial. Markers frame the current date on that peripheral ring, leaving the central dial comparatively open. The complication is a defining feature of the Update family; Watches and Wonders says this 2026 release is the first time NOMOS has put its patented ring date in a gold timepiece.

Three references, two case materials
Fratello’s April 14, 2026 launch report identifies the references and their finishes as follows. The listed strap colors are also from that report; they are publication specifications, not an independent inspection.

T3’s April 13, 2026 coverage describes the steel dial as black and white, with a red date indicator and yellow “neomatik” lettering. It also distinguishes the gold models by their blued or gold-tone hands, and describes the Doré with a brown leather strap.
Movement and published specifications
All three watches use the automatic DUW 6101, according to the launch coverage and official event page. T3 reports that the caliber was slightly reworked to accommodate the smaller case. Fratello lists a 42-hour power reserve, 5 atm water resistance, sapphire crystal and sapphire display back. These are reported product specifications, not results of hands-on or independent testing.
Watches and Wonders describes the DUW 6101 as ultra-thin and identifies Glashütte, Germany, as the watch’s protected designation of origin. That origin designation is distinct from a claim that every component is made locally.

Launch prices vary by report and currency
Publication-era prices do not line up exactly across the reviewed launch reports. Fratello listed the steel ref. 147 at €3,680 and both gold models at €12,400 on April 14, 2026. T3 reported a collection range of €3,380 to €12,400 on April 13, without explaining why its lower figure differs from Fratello’s steel price. WatchTime reported US prices of $4,300 for steel and $16,100 for gold on April 27, 2026.
