The NOMOS Orion neomatik doré and Tangente neomatik doré pair the brand’s slim automatic DUW 3001 with silver-plated white dials and restrained gold details. The choice is mainly about shape and dial character: the Tangente is angular, with black printed markings and gold-tone hands; the Orion is rounder, with applied gold-tone markers. Both joined NOMOS’s permanent collection in October 2024, so they are established models rather than new 2026 releases.

What distinguishes the Tangente and Orion doré?

The Tangente neomatik doré (refs. 192 and 192.SB) keeps the Tangente’s straight-edged, architectural look. Its black printed numerals and markers provide contrast against the silver-plated white dial, while gold-tone hands and gold neomatik lettering supply the warmer accents.

The Orion neomatik doré (ref. 397) takes a softer route. Its rounded case and gently curved profile frame applied gold-tone hour markers and matching hands. Both are stainless steel, but the Orion’s applied markers give its dial a more dimensional appearance than the Tangente’s printed layout.

Which one should you choose?

Choose the Tangente if you prefer a sharper, more graphic dial

Its 35 mm case is the smaller of the two, and the combination of black printed markings with gold-tone hands makes the dial’s contrast a defining feature. The display-back version is 6.9 mm thick; a steel-back variant was reported at 6.7 mm. Launch coverage gives it a 43 mm lug-to-lug measurement.

Choose the Orion if you want a softer shape and more pronounced markers

At 36.4 mm across and 8.5 mm thick, it is larger and thicker on paper than the Tangente. Its rounded case and applied hour markers create a less linear look. Launch coverage reports a 45 mm lug-to-lug measurement. Those figures help compare proportions, but they cannot determine fit on every wrist.

What movement do they use?

Both watches use NOMOS’s automatic DUW 3001, which the brand describes as a neomatik caliber made in Glashütte, Germany. NOMOS also identifies its proprietary NOMOS swing system as the movement’s escapement. The official product pages call the watches elegant, thin dress watches with white silver-plated dials and gold details.

Launch coverage reports a 43-hour power reserve, a 3 Hz beat rate (21,600 vibrations per hour), and regulation in six positions. Fratello reports 37 jewels and a movement thickness of 3.2 mm. These technical figures come from watch-publication coverage rather than the official product-page details cited here. NOMOS says the DUW 3001 took “around one and half million minutes of work”; that is the brand’s claim, and the product page does not state a publication year.

Water resistance and strap

Monochrome and Fratello report a 5 ATM / 50 m water-resistance rating and a brown 18 mm leather strap for the launch models. Fratello relays the manufacturer’s description of the watches as splashproof. The numerical rating alone should not be read as a recommendation for swimming or diving.

Prices and availability

NOMOS’s USD storefront displayed the Tangente ref. 192/192.SB at USD 3,440 and the Orion ref. 397 at USD 3,960 when accessed on 8 October 2026. These are prices shown on that regional storefront, not universal prices; the product page does not state when the prices were published, and stock can change. Check the official NOMOS Glashütte site for the current regional listing.

For context, the October 2024 launch coverage listed EUR 2,940 for the display-back Tangente and EUR 3,040 for the Orion; Fratello also listed a steel-back Tangente at EUR 2,640. Those are launch-era euro prices, not current guarantees or direct equivalents of the USD storefront prices.

The models were reported as additions to NOMOS’s permanent collection at launch. That designation does not establish current stock at NOMOS or any particular retailer.
