The Oakley Time Bomb II paired an unconventional, sculptural case with a Swiss automatic movement—a very different proposition from the original Timebomb. Its titanium body, carbon-fiber bezel and sapphire crystal made it distinctive; its mechanical movement and practical limits made it a watch to understand as well as admire.
A different kind of Oakley watch
The Time Bomb II is best remembered as an assertive design built around conventional mechanical watchmaking. Oakley’s official manual identifies it as a Swiss-made, 25-jewel automatic mechanical watch and lists an Etachron 2824-2 regulator. That is not the same technology as the original Timebomb: its manual describes an inertial generator powering a quartz watch. The name links the two models, but the movements do not.
Oakley Forum’s collector guide dates the Time Bomb II’s launch to 2009 and describes it as the original’s successor with an updated design and automatic Swiss movement. The same guide says Oakley discontinued its watch line in 2015. Those dates are the guide’s historical account, not dates confirmed here by an official Oakley launch announcement or discontinuation notice. The guide also reports an original retail price of $2,700; that historical figure is neither a current asking price nor a measure of present value. It mentions a 2011 Livestrong limited edition, but does not establish edition size or a market premium.
What the Time Bomb II is made of
Oakley’s manual describes a titanium case body and a titanium case back with a sapphire window. The case is described as impact forged and high-precision CNC machined. A carbon-fiber bezel and sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating complete the central combination of materials.

Bracelet details depend on the version. The titanium-bracelet model has a deployant clasp with micro-adjustment; its composite molded links include articulating Unobtainium rubber. The manual also refers to leather-strap models, so a bracelet should not be assumed on every example.

The power-reserve figure is approximate, and Oakley’s accuracy figure is an average specification, not a guarantee for every individual watch today. Condition, maintenance and the state of a particular example matter when assessing an older mechanical watch.
Water resistance and everyday use
The 10-bar rating is not permission to take the Time Bomb II scuba diving. Oakley says the watch is suitable for bathing, swimming and shallow diving, but is not designed for scuba or saturation diving. Before water exposure, make sure the crown is fully pushed down. Do not pull it out while the watch is wet. After contact with seawater, rinse it with fresh water and dry it completely.

The manual gives a normal precision operating range of 0°C to 50°C. It also warns that strong magnetic fields may adversely affect the watch and that hard impacts can damage the movement or crystal.
Inspection, upkeep and service
Oakley’s manual recommends inspecting the case, crown, crystal seal and gasket once every two to three years to maintain water resistance. Its exact guidance is: “To ensure that the case, crown, crystal seal, and gasket remain resistant to water exposure, it is recommended that the timepiece be inspected once every 2 to 3 years by an Authorized Oakley Service Center.” This is the manual’s care recommendation, not confirmation that an authorized center currently services this discontinued model.

Oakley’s Canadian support downloads page still lists a Timebomb II manual, but a downloadable document does not establish repair, parts or bracelet-link availability. The US warranty/support page describes general support pathways without specifically confirming Time Bomb II service. Confirm model-specific acceptance and parts availability directly with Oakley or a qualified watchmaker before relying on the watch’s water resistance.
The manual’s two-year manufacturer-defect warranty is conditional on proof of purchase from an Authorized Oakley Timepiece Dealer. That historical warranty language should not be read as coverage for a present-day secondhand purchase.

Finding one today
Oakley Forum’s collector guide characterizes discontinued Oakley watches as aftermarket finds. That is useful historical context, but it does not establish live inventory, current prices, authenticity or the condition of any particular example. Inspect the individual watch and its service history; for bracelet versions, verify that the links and clasp fit the specific model rather than assuming generic replacement parts will work.
