The Omega Seamaster Railmaster 1957 Trilogy, reference 220.10.38.20.01.002, is a 38 mm anniversary edition that pairs the restrained look of the original Railmaster with Omega’s modern Master Chronometer calibre 8806. Omega limited it to 3,557 pieces and now lists the reference as discontinued. Its appeal is the balance: period-inspired design and compact proportions, with contemporary magnetic resistance and a 55-hour power reserve.
What exactly is the 1957 Trilogy Railmaster?
This is the Seamaster Railmaster 1957 Trilogy, reference 220.10.38.20.01.002—not a later Railmaster or another case size. Omega presents it as a 60th-anniversary tribute to one of three classic watches released in 1957. The run was limited to 3,557 pieces; Omega’s product page does not state the year for that edition-count figure. The same page marks the reference discontinued. Omega’s product page
How do the design and dimensions work?
The black “tropical” style dial, applied indices and Super-LumiNova give the watch its vintage-leaning character, while the steel case and sapphire crystal make the specification decidedly modern. Omega specifies a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on its inner surface.
At 38 mm across, 48 mm from lug tip to lug tip and 12.70 mm thick, it is a compact watch by contemporary sports-watch standards. The 19 mm lug width is useful to know when considering straps. These are Omega’s published dimensions, not independent measurements.

What does calibre 8806 add?
The automatic Omega calibre 8806 is Master Chronometer certified and has a stated 55-hour power reserve. Omega says the movement resists magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss, or 1.5 tesla. That capability connects directly to the Railmaster’s original purpose: Omega describes the 1957 design as intended for people working near electrical or magnetic fields. The modern performance figures are manufacturer claims, not results of independent testing in the sources cited here.

All technical values in the table are Omega specifications, not independent measurements. A stated 60-metre rating does not establish the condition of a particular pre-owned watch: water resistance depends on its seals and service state. Do not rely on the rating for an individual example without appropriate servicing and pressure testing.
What is the bracelet like?
In its review, Fratello describes the bracelet as comfortable and notes the clasp’s length-adjustment mechanism, but finds the clasp comparatively large. The reviewer says they would personally wear the watch on leather. These are one reviewer’s impressions rather than a universal fit assessment. Fratello’s review
What did it cost, and what should buyers expect now?
Fratello reported a price of €6,400 in its 2018 review-era coverage. That is a historical price reference, not a current asking price or an estimate of present value. Omega lists this reference as discontinued, and WatchCharts has a model page with secondary-market listing examples; listings and price indications can change. WatchCharts model page

For a used example, compare listings by date and geography, then account for condition, service history, and whether box and papers are included. A changing set of listings is not a single universal fair value. Verify the reference and the seller’s documentation and authenticity checks before purchase.

The 1957 Trilogy Railmaster makes most sense for someone who wants the classic Railmaster’s restrained styling in a well-defined, compact 38 mm package, but values current movement technology more than a strictly faithful vintage specification. Its 48 mm lug-to-lug length, 55-hour reserve and Omega-stated 15,000-gauss resistance are practical parts of that proposition; its discontinued status and limited 3,557-piece run shape how a buyer will find one. The evidence here does not establish a direct advantage over any named competing watch, so the choice comes down to its proportions, design and verified condition.
