The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph is not one fixed watch: the title covers multiple generations and configurations. Omega’s official specifications for the 45.5 mm steel references 215.30.46.51.03.001 (blue) and 215.30.46.51.01.001 (black) list calibre 9900, 600 m water resistance and Master Chronometer certification. But without the reviewed watch’s full reference, it is not possible to say which variant—or generation—this review concerns, and the available information does not establish hands-on testing.
What watch does this review cover?
The exact reference is essential. Omega’s product pages document two 45.5 mm stainless-steel Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Master Chronometer Chronographs: the blue-dial 215.30.46.51.03.001 and the black-dial 215.30.46.51.01.001. Both are shown with a ceramic bezel and steel bracelet. These are specific documented variants, not stand-ins for every Planet Ocean Chronograph. Omega’s blue reference page and black reference page provide the model-specific details.
The title alone does not identify a reference, dial, strap or bracelet, case material, or generation. The specifications below therefore describe those two cited steel references only. A review of a particular physical watch should name its full reference and configuration, verified against its case, papers, or product record.
Specifications of the cited 45.5 mm steel chronographs
| Specification | 215.30.46.51.03.001 (blue) | 215.30.46.51.01.001 (black) |

These are manufacturer specifications, not results from independent testing. The rating is Omega’s stated water resistance; it does not establish how a particular watch performs after wear, damage, or service.

How the fourth-generation redesign changes the context
Omega announced the Planet Ocean’s fourth generation on 18 November 2025, marking 20 years since the first Planet Ocean release. The launch announcement describes seven new watches. Omega’s announcement establishes the redesign and its place in the collection’s timeline, but it does not make every earlier chronograph reference part of the new generation.
In a 1 May 2026 London event report, Omega said the redesigned collection was available worldwide and described seven versions in blue, black, or signature orange, with rubber straps or steel bracelets. That statement concerns the redesigned collection, not confirmed stock of each individual watch or the ongoing availability of a specific older chronograph reference. Omega’s event report also quotes President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann calling the Planet Ocean a lifestyle piece as well as an underwater timepiece; that is the brand’s positioning, not an independent assessment.

The cited Omega pages establish the listed configurations and specifications. They do not establish independent hands-on impressions, real-world timing or water-resistance tests, or current market pricing. A retailer listing for the blue reference may change in price or stock and is not a dependable evergreen valuation. The separate 2023 Emirates Team New Zealand Planet Ocean Deep Black is another 45.5 mm chronograph powered by calibre 9900, but it is a distinct special edition—not evidence of the configuration covered here. Omega’s 2023 release identifies that edition.
For a meaningful comparison or buying decision, match the full reference and generation first, then compare dial and bezel, case and bracelet or strap materials, dimensions, movement and chronograph functions, stated water resistance, and whether the watch is new or pre-owned. The available specifications do not support ranking one variant as best.
