What is the Speedmaster Co-Axial 9300?
The 9300 Co-Axial Chronograph belongs to a distinct Speedmaster line introduced in 2011. The stainless-steel watch discussed in contemporary Fratello reviews is reference 311.30.44.51.01.002. Its automatic winding, date display and manufacture calibre distinguish it from the familiar hand-wound Speedmaster Professional. Fratello described it as a separate model, not a successor to the Professional. Fratello’s review of the steel reference and Łukasz Doskocz’s January 15, 2013 review provide the historical context.
How does it differ from the Speedmaster Professional?
The choice is less about which watch is objectively better and more about which Speedmaster experience you want. The 9300 gives you automatic winding, a date and a larger case; the classic Professional configuration is hand-wound and has no date. The 9300’s chronograph display also changes the dial’s balance.

The case comparison highlights a practical difference, but diameter alone does not determine fit. Case shape and the wearer’s wrist matter too; the historical review’s comfort impression is one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee for every wrist.

What are the case and dial like?
The reviewed stainless-steel generation measures 44.25 mm across and 16 mm tall, according to Doskocz’s 2013 account. That makes wrist presence an important consideration, especially for anyone accustomed to a 42 mm Professional. Despite the substantial dimensions, the reviewer found the case comfortable and less imposing in wear than its measurements suggested.
The dial has two subdials rather than the more familiar three-register arrangement. At 3 o’clock, a single register combines the chronograph’s 12-hour and 60-minute indications; small seconds sit at 9, and the date is at 6. Doskocz found the combined counter straightforward to read, while noting that some people may not like the spacing. Fratello’s earlier review also praised chronograph legibility, the luminous display, bracelet and sapphire display back. These are historical reviewers’ observations, not independent current testing.
What does calibre 9300 offer?
Fratello describes calibre 9300 as an automatic chronograph with a column wheel, vertical clutch, Co-Axial escapement, silicon hairspring and two mainspring barrels. The movement’s stated power reserve is 60 hours. OMEGA’s manual for the separate ceramic reference 311.93.44.51.99.002 also specifies a 60-hour reserve, but that manual documents that particular variant; its specifications should not automatically be transferred to every 9300 Speedmaster.

The movement’s appearance and operation were among Doskocz’s positives. The chronograph’s combined register is also a functional choice: it keeps the dial to two subdials while retaining both elapsed-minute and elapsed-hour indications.
Does the calibre 9300 have a quick-set date?
No quick date-setting function is described in the reviewed watch’s historical accounts. Fratello’s earlier reviewer specifically found the date was not quick-set and said that became noticeable when changing it. For the separate ceramic reference covered by OMEGA’s manual, the crown’s second position advances the hour hand in one-hour jumps in either direction and corrects the date when crossing midnight. That operating detail applies to the documented ceramic model, not necessarily every 9300 variant.
Is the 44.25 mm case too large?
There is no universal wrist-size cutoff in the available reviews. The dimensions are substantial beside the 42 mm Professional, and the 16 mm height should be considered as well as diameter. Doskocz and the earlier Fratello reviewer both reported comfortable wear, but those impressions are subjective. If compactness or the traditional Professional proportions are priorities, the 9300 may feel like a very different watch; trying the exact reference on is the soundest way to judge fit.

What did the 2013 review conclude—and what does its price tell us?
Doskocz’s historical assessment favored the movement, dial legibility and case comfort, with the non-quick-set date and larger dimensions standing out as drawbacks. These points describe his experience at the time, not a present-day condition report or a claim about long-term reliability.
Fratello listed the steel watch at €6,400, approximately US$8,250, in its 2011-era review. That is historical list-price context only; it does not establish current value, pricing or availability. No current market figure is established by the cited reviews.
OMEGA’s manual lists 5 bar (50 metres / 165 feet) water resistance, a 60-hour power reserve and functions including date, time-zone adjustment, chronograph and tachymeter for ceramic reference 311.93.44.51.99.002.
