The Omega Speedmaster White Side of the Moon is a 44.25 mm automatic chronograph distinguished by its white ceramic case and dial, white-gold details, and a red-tipped central chronograph hand. This is reference 311.93.44.51.04.002 in the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon family—not the standard manually wound Moonwatch Professional. Omega’s Hong Kong product page currently marks this reference no longer available, though that does not establish whether stock remains elsewhere.
What the White Side of the Moon is
Omega identifies reference 311.93.44.51.04.002 as the Speedmaster White Side of the Moon and lists it within the Dark Side of the Moon family. Its familiar Speedmaster chronograph arrangement is rendered in a strikingly pale palette: white ceramic case and dial, a white leather strap, and white-gold hands and indexes. A small red tip on the central chronograph hand is the principal contrast.
The name can invite comparison with the classic Moonwatch, but it should not be mistaken for the Moonwatch Professional’s reference or specification. Omega specifies this model with an automatic Co-Axial Calibre 9300.
Design and materials
Omega describes the 44.25 mm case as polished-brushed white ceramic. The ceramic bezel carries a matt chromium nitride tachymeter scale, while the white ceramic dial has applied 18K white-gold indexes. The sapphire crystal is treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides.
#1 Best Overall
The hands are diamond-polished 18K white gold, with the central chronograph seconds hand as the exception: Omega describes it as polished rhodium-plated and tipped in red. Chronos Japan’s hands-on coverage highlights the ceramic case and dial and white-gold hands; launch-era coverage from Hodinkee also notes luminous material and the red chronograph-hand tip.
The original strap is white leather, with an alligator outer surface and non-grained calf-leather underside. It closes with a ceramic foldover clasp. Omega lists the complete product weight at approximately 97 g.

Size, fit and everyday limits
Omega lists a 44.25 mm case diameter, 49.80 mm lug-to-lug length and 21 mm between the lugs. Diameter alone does not determine fit: the lug-to-lug measurement and the shape of the wearer’s wrist matter too. Those dimensions are a useful basis for comparison, but do not establish how the watch will feel on any particular wrist.
Water resistance is rated at 5 bar (50 metres / 165 feet) by Omega. That is the manufacturer’s stated rating, not a claim that every watch of this age is suitable for water exposure today; for a pre-owned example, condition and seal integrity matter.

Calibre 9300 and functions
Omega describes the self-winding Calibre 9300 as a chronograph movement with a column wheel and Co-Axial escapement. It uses a silicon balance spring and two barrels mounted in series. The manufacturer states a 60-hour power reserve and a frequency of 4 Hz; these are specifications, not independent test results.
Omega lists a chronograph, date, small seconds, tachymeter and time-zone function among the watch’s features. A transparent caseback provides a view of the movement.

Strap sizing and replacement
The official 21 mm between-lugs measurement makes a 21 mm watch strap the starting point when looking for an alternative. It does not guarantee that every third-party strap will attach correctly or work with the original clasp. Check the attachment style, strap thickness and clasp compatibility before buying.

Omega’s Hong Kong product page for reference 311.93.44.51.04.002 says, “Sorry, but this watch is no longer available.” That statement applies to the cited regional page; it does not confirm that every authorized dealer or pre-owned seller is out of stock. The 1916 Company has a reference-specific review listing that invites inquiries about price and availability, but that listing is not confirmation of live inventory.

No current market price is established here, so old launch-era retail figures should not be treated as today’s price. For a pre-owned example, confirm condition, box and papers, seller, service history, and local availability directly before committing.
How to compare it with another Speedmaster
For a meaningful comparison with another Speedmaster or ceramic chronograph, compare the measurements and functions rather than relying on the shared name. Useful points are case diameter and lug-to-lug length; case and dial materials; movement type and stated reserve; chronograph layout and extra functions; water resistance; strap material and lug width; and the current purchase channel.
Omega’s regional product page is the primary source for the listed specifications and its Hong Kong availability status. Chronos Japan also published a hands-on review of the model.
