Omega introduced its Spirate regulating system in the Speedmaster Super Racing on 26 January 2023, pairing a new mechanical adjustment mechanism with the company’s stated certified precision of 0/+2 seconds per day. That is Omega’s rated precision claim—not a promise that every watch will gain the same amount in every owner’s daily conditions.
What is Omega’s Spirate system?
Spirate is a fine-adjustment system for the movement’s regulating mechanism. Omega says an eccentric mechanism on the balance bridge lets a watchmaker adjust the stiffness at the hairspring’s attachment point. Its announcement describes this as a way to fine-tune the watch’s rate. Omega’s 26 January 2023 announcement introduced the system with the Super Racing, which the company identified as the first model to use it.
The system also uses a new Si14 silicon balance spring. The Swatch Group’s archive says each Spirate spiral is made from a silicon wafer using DRIE, or Deep Reactive Ion Etching. These sources describe the adjustment principle, but do not provide independent performance testing or a complete engineering specification.
What does 0/+2 seconds per day mean?
Omega states that the Super Racing has certified precision of 0/+2 seconds per day. In practical terms, the stated range runs from no daily deviation to a gain of two seconds per day under the conditions relevant to the claim. Omega’s product page says Spirate allows the watch to achieve 0 to +2 seconds per day beyond the stated METAS Master Chronometer precision requirements. Omega’s product page

This is a manufacturer-stated certified precision figure, not a report of long-term measurements from owners. A mechanical watch’s observed rate can vary with factors such as position, how it is worn, and its state of wind; the 0/+2 claim should not be read as a guarantee of identical results in every wearing pattern.
How does Master Chronometer certification fit in?
The watch is Master Chronometer certified. Omega says the certification includes eight tests; the Swatch Group describes the overall process as 283 steps, eight tests over ten days. The certification context and Spirate’s additional precision claim are related, but they are not interchangeable: 0/+2 seconds per day is Omega’s stated precision figure for this watch, while Master Chronometer is the certification framework.

What did Omega say about Spirate’s wider use?
At launch, the Swatch Group said Omega planned to introduce Spirate step by step into other calibres. That was a 2023 plan; the available sources here do not establish whether other Omega models have since adopted the system.
