The December 2024 OnePlus Watch 3 leak was largely right about the watch’s design and ECG-capable hardware. OnePlus launched the watch on February 18, 2025, with a rotating crown, a large round case and health-monitoring features. But ECG Analyzer access is not guaranteed everywhere: OnePlus said it was unavailable in the U.S. and Canada at launch because the required FDA certification had not been received.
What did the OnePlus Watch 3 leak claim?
A render and feature report published on December 21, 2024, showed a round watch with a design direction similar to the OnePlus Watch 2. The report pointed to a more prominent rotating crown, premium construction, a larger display and ECG measurement support. These were pre-launch claims, not official specifications. Gizmochina’s leak report, Gadgets 360 and Notebookcheck covered the early details.
Which predictions proved accurate?
The final Watch 3 retained the large, round design and rotating crown, and OnePlus included ECG capability in the product’s health feature set for supported markets. The leak’s broad health-monitoring direction was also borne out. OnePlus officially announced the watch on February 18, 2025, with Wear OS 5, a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display, dual-frequency GPS and a battery claim of up to five days in Smart mode. The final specification sheet—not the leak—should be used for exact details. See the OnePlus launch announcement.
Does the OnePlus Watch 3 have ECG?
It has ECG-capable hardware, but ECG Analyzer availability depends on the market. At launch, OnePlus said ECG Analyzer was unavailable in the United States and Canada because the company had not received the required FDA certification. This was a certification and availability limitation, not evidence that the FDA had rejected the feature. 9to5Google’s launch coverage reported the U.S. and Canadian restriction.

| Market | What is established |
|---|---|
| United States | ECG Analyzer was unavailable at launch, according to OnePlus, pending required FDA certification. |
| Canada | ECG Analyzer was unavailable at launch, according to OnePlus, pending required FDA certification. |
| United Kingdom | OnePlus’s regional materials made availability dependent on regulatory approval, including MHRA certification timing. Check the current UK feature listing. |
| Other markets | Availability varies; check the OnePlus feature listing for the country where the watch will be used. |
A watch imported from another country should not be assumed to unlock ECG locally. Regulatory approval, software, account settings and supported phone or app configuration can affect access. OnePlus’s UK Watch 3 page notes that ECG Analyzer availability may vary with local approval requirements.
What ECG does—and what it does not do
An ECG records electrical activity of the heart through contact between the wearer and the watch’s electrode; it is different from optical heart-rate tracking, which measures pulse using light sensors. ECG availability is also distinct from continuous heart-rate monitoring: the feature does not mean the watch is continuously recording an ECG.

OnePlus describes the Watch 3 as a general wellness and fitness product, not a medical device. Its readings are not a diagnosis and cannot independently confirm or rule out a serious condition. The U.S. product page sets out this limitation and highlights other wellness functions, including heart rate, blood oxygen, wrist temperature, sleep information and vascular-health analysis. See OnePlus’s product details and disclaimer.

What to expect from health features and battery life
OnePlus presents Health Check-In as a 60-second overview of wellness indicators. The mix of available measures can vary by market and software configuration: heart rate, blood oxygen, ECG, wrist temperature, sleep information and vascular-health analysis are not necessarily available together in every region. In particular, the absence of ECG Analyzer in the U.S. and Canada at launch means a regional Health Check-In should not be assumed to match a version that includes ECG.

The headline battery figures are manufacturer estimates, not guarantees. OnePlus’s Smart-mode claim of up to five days assumes defined usage conditions, including a specified watch face and phone connection, sleep tracking, notifications, calls and exercise; the stated scenario does not use always-on display. Heavy GPS activity, frequent calls, always-on display and continuous health monitoring can reduce runtime. WIRED’s review also noted that health-monitoring settings can affect the headline endurance.

The Watch 3 requires a compatible Android phone; it does not support iPhone or Android Go. OnePlus’s U.S. compatibility information specifies Android 9.0 or newer, Google Mobile Services version 23.45.23 or newer, and the OHealth app from Google Play. Some remote controls, including camera and short-video controls, require a OnePlus or OPPO phone running OxygenOS 15 or ColorOS 15 and above. Consult the OnePlus compatibility information before buying.

The 43mm Watch 3 is a later, smaller model, not a correction to the original leak or a replacement for the larger model’s specifications. OnePlus lists up to 60 hours of Smart-mode battery life for the 43mm version under its stated test conditions. It may suit smaller wrists, but its battery claim is materially shorter than the original larger Watch 3’s up-to-five-day Smart-mode claim. The same product information describes it as Android-compatible.
Who should consider the Watch 3?
- Consider it if you use Android and prioritize Wear OS apps, long claimed battery life, GPS, premium materials or OnePlus/OPPO ecosystem controls.
- Do not buy it primarily for ECG Analyzer if you are in the U.S. or Canada: OnePlus said the feature was unavailable there at launch. Check local availability before purchasing anywhere else.
- Look elsewhere if you need iPhone compatibility, a smaller case than the 46mm-class model, or clinical diagnosis from a wearable. An Apple Watch is the Android-incompatible option for iPhone users; Garmin watches may better suit sports-first needs, while Samsung Galaxy Watch or Google Pixel Watch may fit buyers prioritizing their respective phone ecosystems.
OnePlus and launch coverage put the U.S. launch price at about $329.99 and the Canadian launch price at C$449.99 in 2025. Those are historical launch prices, not a statement of current retail pricing; check the seller’s current listing.
