The Oris Aquis Depth Gauge Chronograph reference 01 774 7708 4154-Set RS pairs a 48 mm automatic chronograph diver with a mechanical depth gauge built into its sapphire crystal. Its defining feature is unusual, but Oris sets clear boundaries: the gauge is supplemental, requires a clean channel, and is not a replacement for normal diving instruments.

What this review covers

This is the specific black-dial Aquis Depth Gauge Chronograph, reference 01 774 7708 4154-Set RS—not every Aquis Depth Gauge variant. The specifications below are those on Oris’s UK regional product page, accessed in 2026. They describe the listed configuration, not independent test results.

How does the Oris Aquis Depth Gauge work?

The watch has a gauging channel integrated into the sapphire crystal. Water entering the channel provides the basis for the mechanical depth indication. Oris’s manual supplement explains how to rinse the channel, but does not provide a quantified accuracy tolerance.

Cleaning the channel

Oris’s cleaning kit comprises a 5 ml syringe, five cannulas, and five flexible tubes. The manual’s procedure uses a tube to reach the channel and water in the syringe to rinse it. Before a dive, check the channel for water residue and clean it if residue is present. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents and solvents: Oris warns that they may damage the sapphire-crystal gasket.

ScubaPro Wrist Mount Imperial Digital Depth Gauge
  • Compact, wristwatch-style diving information center includes data for actual and maximum depth, ascent speed, dive time in minutes and temperature.
  • Depth-rated to 1082 feet to suit all technical and deep-diving scenarios, the Digital 330M features a logbook with data for the last 20 dives to allow for post-dive review and analysis.
  • Other features include variable ascent rates displayed in a percentage, fast ascent warning, automatic altitude compensation when changing dive locations, and auto on/off so it's ready when you are.
  • Ideal for technical divers, it's also a great initial data delivery system for beginning divers and a useful backup instrument for divers of all skill levels.
  • Great for both recreational and technical diving, it's backed by a manufacturer's limited 1-year warranty.

Conditions that can affect the indication

Oris says the indication may be slightly influenced by changes in ambient air pressure caused by temperature, weather, and altitude; temperature differences between the watch and the water; and water salinity. The manufacturer does not quantify the possible effect, so no precision figure or error margin can be stated from the available documentation.

Use it alongside normal dive instruments

Oris instructs users to use the Aquis Depth Gauge “only as a supplemental mechanical depth gauge, in addition to the usual diving instruments”. Treat it as an additional mechanical indication, not as a substitute for a dive computer or other usual instrumentation.

These are manufacturer-listed specifications for the exact reference on Oris’s UK product page. The source does not establish case thickness, independent depth accuracy, or wrist fit; those should not be inferred from the diameter alone.

What is it like as a dive chronograph?

The combination is legible on paper as a tool-watch brief: a ceramic minutes-scale top ring, chronograph timing, 50 bar listed water resistance, and the additional depth indication. The chronograph has a central quarter-second hand and separate 30-minute and 12-hour counters, alongside running seconds. No hands-on assessment or independent performance test is established here, so claims about real-world legibility, timing performance, or comfort would go beyond the available evidence.

The 48 mm case is the practical constraint to consider first. Its 26 mm interhorn width and the listed rubber strap and extra bracelet provide useful fit details, but diameter alone cannot determine how it will wear on a particular wrist. If considering a replacement strap, verify the end shape, thickness, clasp, and compatibility with this reference; no third-party strap has been tested or endorsed.

Availability and price

Oris’s UK regional page displays GBP 3,850, but says the watch is not available for online purchase in that region and directs customers to stores. That localized page price is not evidence of a current selling price in other markets or of a secondhand transaction value. The independent The Watch Pages reference listing labels the model discontinued; that label does not establish that authorized-dealer stock or pre-owned examples are unavailable worldwide.
