The Monsieur de CHANEL Tourbillon Meteorite is a 42 mm limited-edition watch that pairs a partly openworked meteorite dial with a manually wound flying-tourbillon movement. CHANEL specifies 55 pieces; the design’s defining detail is a lion-head motif on the tourbillon cage.
What makes the Meteorite edition distinctive?
Its visual layout separates the time display from the movement rather than presenting a conventional full dial. Monochrome describes intersecting rings, with hours and minutes in the upper area and seconds alongside the tourbillon below. The partly openworked construction exposes the movement, while the meteorite fragment gives the remaining dial surface its material character.
CHANEL’s 2023 brochure says the meteorite fragment makes each piece unique. That is the brand’s description of the material; it does not establish how much individual fragments differ.
The lower display centers on a flying tourbillon carrying a lion-head motif. CHANEL’s broader Monsieur collection also includes a platinum Haute Horlogerie interpretation with Caliber 5.1 and a three-dimensional lion’s head, but that collection page is not a specification source for this meteorite model’s case.

The case, display, movement, strap, and water-resistance details are published specifications from Monochrome and CHANEL’s 2023 brochure. A 30 m rating is a specification, not a basis here for recommending swimming or diving.
Movement and wearing implications
Caliber 5.1 is manually wound, so the wearer winds it rather than relying on an automatic rotor. Its approximately 72-hour power reserve is the published running time when fully wound; it is not a guarantee of exact performance in every condition. The flying tourbillon and openwork display make the mechanism a prominent part of the watch’s design, while the upper hours-and-minutes display remains visually distinct from the movement below.

The 42 mm case combines matte black ceramic and steel. The black nylon strap, calfskin trim and lining, and folding steel clasp continue the monochrome treatment. The sources establish these materials and dimensions, but do not provide comparative wear-test findings or a direct alternative for judging fit.

CHANEL’s 2023 brochure and the hands-on reports identify the edition as limited to 55 watches. Pricing is reported at different source times: Monochrome lists the price as “upon request,” while Hodinkee Japan reported ¥17.05 million including tax in its 2023 article. Neither figure is a current quote, and neither confirms that a watch is available to buy now.
