The Oris Aquis Depth Gauge pairs a 45.80 mm automatic dive watch with a mechanical depth indicator built into its sapphire crystal. Oris lists the US rubber-strap reference at USD 4,300, but marked it unavailable to buy online when checked on October 8, 2026. Its distinctive gauge is designed to supplement—not replace—a diver’s usual instruments.
What is the Oris Aquis Depth Gauge?
This is the three-hand Aquis model with a depth-indicating channel milled into the sapphire crystal. Water enters the channel as the watch is submerged; the resulting watermark lines up with a yellow gauge on the dial to indicate depth. It is a mechanical display integrated into the watch, rather than an electronic dive computer. Oris’s US product listing and its Aquis Depth Gauge manual describe the design and use.
The manual is explicit about its role: “Use the Oris Aquis Depth Gauge only as a supplemental mechanical depth gauge, in addition to the usual diving instruments.” The watch should not be treated as a substitute for a dive computer or a diver’s primary instruments.
How the depth gauge works—and what can affect it
The channel in the crystal admits water, creating a watermark that can be read against the dial’s yellow depth scale. Because it is a mechanical indicator exposed to its environment, Oris warns that the reading can be affected by several conditions:

- Ambient air-pressure changes associated with weather, temperature, and altitude.
- The difference between air and water temperature, particularly if the watch has not yet reached the water’s temperature.
- Water salinity.
Before a dive, the manual advises checking the channel for residual water and ensuring the watch is at ambient temperature. Those cautions matter to interpreting the display; they reinforce why the gauge belongs alongside the usual diving instruments, not in place of them.

Oris’s manual describes cleaning the gauging channel with a syringe, cannula, and flexible tube. It instructs users to rinse with water and withdraw the tube while drawing water back into the syringe to remove residual water. The manual warns against aggressive cleaning agents and solvents because they may damage the sapphire crystal gasket. It does not establish whether a cleaning kit is included with every current purchase or sold separately.

Who should consider this watch?
The Aquis Depth Gauge is most distinctive for someone who wants a mechanical depth indication incorporated into a robust, large-format dive watch and understands its supplementary role. Its 45.80 mm case and unusual crystal construction are central to the proposition; the depth display is not a reason to leave established dive instruments behind. Buyers comparing listings should check the reference, strap or bracelet configuration, region, and current availability rather than assume one price applies to all versions.
