The Vulcain Nautical Legacy x Massena LAB is a 25-piece limited-edition alarm watch that reworks Vulcain’s Cricket Nautical with a chocolate-brown dial, collaboration-specific hands and an adjustable decompression scale. Massena LAB lists it at $4,950 with a two-year warranty; its product page does not establish current availability.
What is the Vulcain Nautical Legacy x Massena LAB?
It is a modern collaboration built around the Cricket Nautical, Vulcain’s alarm-equipped diver watch. Massena LAB describes the design as an imaginative answer to the question of what the Cricket Nautical might have looked like had it been created a decade earlier, in the 1950s. The partnership with Vulcain was formalized in 2024. Massena LAB’s collaboration page and official product listing give the collaboration’s background and specifications.
The original Cricket Nautical dates to 1961, according to Massena LAB and Vulcain’s Nautical Heritage page. The collaboration retains the model’s alarm and decompression-scale concept while giving it a distinct brown-dial treatment.
How does the decompression dial work?
The watch has a rotating double dial. Turning the crown at four o’clock rotates the upper dial plate, bringing a decompression scale into view through an aperture. Massena LAB says the scale indicates required stops at nine, six and three meters based on dive depth and duration. This is the manufacturer’s description of the feature; it should not be treated as a replacement for current dive-planning tools, training or safety procedures.

Dial and hands
The chocolate-brown dial is paired with a baton-style hour hand, a broad arrowhead minute hand and a red arrow alarm hand. Massena LAB says the beige lume glows green in low light. Together with the black rubber strap, these details distinguish the collaboration’s look from other Nautical Heritage versions.
Alarm movement and case back
The hand-wound V10 uses one barrel for timekeeping and another for the alarm. The Cricket Nautical’s triple case back is part of the alarm design: Vulcain describes the model family as an alarm diver with an integrated no-stop dive-time system and 300-meter water resistance. The listed 300 m rating applies to the watch as specified by the brand; it does not validate the decompression scale as contemporary dive guidance.
Historical context
Massena LAB says the original Cricket Nautical was developed after research involving Swiss diver Hannes Keller, explorer and filmmaker Max-Yves Brandily, and certified diving instructor Arthur Droz. The company also says Keller wore a Cricket Nautical on a record-setting 1966 dive that reached almost 250 meters, with Jacques Cousteau as witness. Those historical details are Massena LAB’s account.
