There is no single winner among the watches unveiled at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025. Our favourites reflect distinct strengths: the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller for its importance as a new Rolex collection, the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6196P for a classic dress-watch approach, and the Cartier Tank à Guichets for a more unusual design. They are editorial picks, not an official event ranking.
What made Watches and Wonders 2025 worth watching?
The Geneva showcase brought together 60 exhibiting brands and more than 55,000 visitors, according to the organiser’s 2025 post-event release. The event described itself as presenting “A wealth of new releases and animations, a true testimony to the vitality of the Swiss watchmaking industry” on its official event page.
That breadth matters when choosing favourites: the watches below are not direct substitutes. They represent different ideas of what makes a new release compelling, from a major collection launch to a refined dress watch and a distinctive design. The event’s novelties directory and brand announcements establish which watches were associated with the show; independent watch publications’ selections show that editorial favourites differ.
Our favourite watches from the show
Rolex Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller
The Land-Dweller stands out as a central Rolex launch of 2025 and a new collection, rather than a minor variation on an existing model. Rolex introduced it in its 2025 newsroom announcement, and the watch appears in the event’s novelties directory. Independent editors also selected it among their favourites.
#1 Best Overall
- Capturing the daring style of Marc Anthony, one of music’s most influential artists, Bulova presents the all-new Marc Anthony Series A.
- The bold, angular silver-tone stainless steel case features brushed finishing with polished accents, a silver-tone bezel with grey accents, a flat mineral crystal, and a screw-down crown. The stunningly vibrant blue dial combines sunray texture along the hour track and a central dial with a radiant sunburst finish, complete with hands with luminescent treatment, polished indices, and a grey running seconds sub-dial.
- The dial is further accented with diamond hour markers at 1, 3, and 5 o’clock, chosen by Marc for their personal significance. Visible through both the dial aperture and an exhibition case back, the open heartbeat automatic movement features 21 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve.
- The 44mm watch has 200m of water resistance and is complemented with a matching silver-tone stainless steel bracelet with a push-button deployant clasp. Uniting Marc Anthony’s iconic music with Bulova’s proprietary technology and Bold at Heart spirit, this new men’s timepiece will keep you always within style’s rhythm.
- 200M Water Resistant and 3 Year Limited Warranty
Rolex says 32 patent applications and patents pertain to the Land-Dweller, with 18 exclusive to the watch. That figure indicates the scale of the brand’s technical work around the launch; it is not a measure of quality or proof that the watch is better than the other picks.
Patek Philippe Calatrava 6196P
The Calatrava 6196P is a strong choice for readers drawn to a dress watch rather than a sportier or more overtly technical release. It appeared in an independent watch publication’s editorial favourites, while Patek Philippe’s official 2025 novelties release provides the brand’s event context.
Rank #2
- Case Size: 39.30 mm, Band Width: 19 mm, Case Thickness: 9.75 mm
- Automatic movement, leather strap, Roman dial type, Date
- Water-resistant up to a pressure of 3 bar (30 m / 100 ft): suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering, but no diving or snorkeling.
Its appeal in this lineup is its contrast with the Land-Dweller: the case for choosing it is a preference for the Calatrava’s classic dress-watch character, not a claim that it wins on shared specifications or suits the same use.
Cartier Tank à Guichets
The Tank à Guichets earns a place for taking a recognisable watch design in a more unusual direction. It was included in an independent publication’s favourites selection. For someone who values a distinctive design over a conventional round case and dial, it offers a different kind of appeal from the Rolex and Patek Philippe picks.
Rank #3
- STYLE: This Michael Kors Slim Runway mens watch features a black sunray dial, three-hand movement and black stainless steel bracelet
- CASE & DIAL: This watch for men has a round 44mm stainless steel case with a black dial; mineral crystal face resists scratches
- WATCH BAND: A mens wrist watch with a black gray stainless steel bracelet band; 22mm band width; links can be removed for a customized fit
- PRECISION TIMEKEEPING: A men's watch with Quartz movement and three-hand analog display; imported
- SWIM-READY Water Resistant: This wrist watch for men is wearable while swimming in shallow water up to 50m (165ft); 5 ATM
How to choose among these favourites
Start with the kind of watch you actually want to wear, rather than treating “best” as a universal verdict. The Land-Dweller represents a significant Rolex collection launch; the Calatrava is the dress-watch choice in this group; and the Tank à Guichets is the design-led alternative.
- Intended use and style: Decide whether you are looking for a dress watch, a more versatile everyday watch, or a distinctive design statement.
- Fit and materials: Compare case dimensions and material, then consider how the bracelet or strap suits your wrist and wardrobe.
- Movement and complications: Check the specific watch’s movement and functions against what you value. The brand’s technical claims, including patent counts, do not by themselves establish which watch is right for you.
- Price and availability: Confirm the current price and availability for the exact reference in your market. Both can vary by region and over time.
Why there is no single “best” watch from Watches and Wonders
Independent publications made different choices: Hodinkee’s selection and WatchTime’s coverage illustrate how favourites depend on the editor’s criteria. The event directory verifies that releases such as the TAG Heuer Carrera Day-Date were part of the show, but a directory listing alone does not make a watch an editorial favourite. The right pick depends on which design, use and watchmaking approach matters most to you.
