The Panerai LAB-ID PAM00700 is a 49 mm hand-wound Luminor Carbotech limited to 50 pieces. Its defining features are a carbon-nanotube-coated black dial, a semi-skeletonised P.3001/C movement with a three-day power reserve, and an unusual 50-year warranty subject to terms and exclusions. Panerai rates it to 10 bar (approximately 100 metres). Its reported €50,000 price was the original 2017 launch retail price—not an established current market value.
What the Panerai LAB-ID PAM700 is
Known by the reference PAM00700 (also written PAM 700), the Luminor LAB-ID Carbotech was introduced in 2017 as a 50-piece limited edition. Panerai’s archived product page lists a 49 mm case and Carbotech bezel, with a see-through sapphire caseback. The scarcity and dimensions make this a distinctive collector’s Luminor, but the 49 mm case is a significant fit consideration rather than a universally wearable size. These are Panerai’s published specifications; they are not independent test results. In particular, the water-resistance rating describes the watch as specified, not the present condition of a particular pre-owned example.
Carbotech and the carbon-nanotube dial
The case and bezel use Carbotech, while the black dial is the more unusual part of the LAB-ID’s materials story. Panerai describes a carbon-nanotube coating developed for the dial and says the inscriptions are placed on the crystal to preserve that coating. The manufacturer presents the coating’s optical properties as a way to reduce reflections and create a deep-black appearance; that is Panerai’s technical description, not a separately verified measurement. The P.3001/C movement and daily use
The hand-wound P.3001/C pairs a three-day reserve with a power-reserve indication, small seconds, hours and minutes. The movement has two barrels and 203 components, while its four jewels are a deliberately prominent part of the model’s technical pitch. Panerai describes the calibre as a first presentation in this semi-skeletonised, four-jewel form in its technical brochure. The practical trade-off is straightforward: owners must wind the watch manually, and its 49 mm case will dominate on many wrists.
The official rating is 10 bar, approximately 100 metres. That rating does not establish that every activity is suitable, nor does it establish the water resistance of an individual older watch. A used example should be assessed in its present condition, with service and water-resistance checks handled by an authorized professional.

What the 50-year warranty covers—and what to verify
Panerai’s LAB-ID warranty document states that necessary interventions for the watch’s functioning are covered free of charge for 50 years from the purchase date, subject to stated exclusions. It is not an unconditional promise that every repair, damage event, or service will be free. The document also specifies authorized Panerai distributors, boutiques, and authorized after-sales centers for guarantee service under its terms. - Service records, including any work by a non-authorized provider that could affect coverage.
- The applicable regional terms and whether the watch remains eligible.
- Current condition and water resistance; the warranty document’s US/Canada section recommends water-resistance checks every three to five years.
Price: the original launch figure is not today’s value

A current secondary-market value is not established here. When comparing offers, keep asking prices separate from completed-sale prices, and compare like with like: condition, provenance, papers, service history, and any remaining warranty eligibility can materially change what an example represents.

Is the PAM700 worth considering?
The PAM00700 is most compelling for someone who specifically wants an exceptionally scarce, large Carbotech Luminor with an unconventional dial treatment, a hand-wound three-day movement, and documented long-term warranty terms. The 50-piece production run and 49 mm case are concrete differentiators; whether those qualities justify a particular asking price depends on the buyer and the individual watch. Without dated comparable sales, the 2017 €50,000 launch figure cannot answer whether a current offer is fair.
For a purchase decision, prioritize wrist fit and condition first, then verify provenance, service history, paperwork, and warranty status directly with Panerai. Treat the maker’s material and movement descriptions as manufacturer claims, and have the actual watch inspected rather than relying on its original specification sheet.
