The Panerai PAM01537 is a 42 mm steel Luminor 1950 with an automatic GMT movement, a second-time-zone display and a stated 72-hour power reserve. It is the 2017–2021 successor to the PAM00537, not the same reference. Its combination of travel-time functions and a power-reserve indicator makes it a more information-dense Luminor than a simple time-and-date model.
What the PAM01537 is
The PAM01537 is listed as the Luminor 1950 3 Days GMT Power Reserve Automatic Acciaio. “Acciaio” means steel. A secondary reference database records a 42 mm case, 13.5 mm thickness, 22 mm lug width, sapphire crystal and 100 m water resistance; these are database specifications, not confirmation of a current Panerai product listing. Panerai is the manufacturer, but current availability for this discontinued reference is not established here.
The same database records production from 2017 through 2021 and identifies PAM01537 as the successor to PAM00537. The references are related, but their specifications should not be conflated: material about PAM00537 does not by itself establish a PAM01537 feature.
How the GMT and power reserve work
Second time zone
The listed functions include hours, minutes, small seconds, date and a second time zone, commonly described as GMT. That gives the wearer a way to track another time zone alongside local time. The available model descriptions do not establish specific operating instructions for setting the hands, so consult the watch’s manual or a qualified Panerai service provider before adjusting an unfamiliar example.

Three-day reserve
The automatic P.9012 caliber is listed with a 72-hour reserve. “Three Days” is the model’s stated reserve specification; Panerai’s October 2018 price list gives the same figure. A power-reserve indicator is listed on the dial, allowing the remaining reserve to be read without relying only on elapsed time since winding.
Other listed functions
Descriptions also specify a date display, small seconds and seconds reset. The seconds-reset function allows the seconds hand to be stopped for precise time setting, according to the reference listing. The sources do not establish service interval, accuracy in daily use, or reliability statistics for this reference.
Dial and case details
The dial is described in reference listings as black with a hobnail or “Clou de Paris” texture. Catalog descriptions place the date at 3 o’clock, small seconds at 9 o’clock and the power-reserve indicator at 5 o’clock. These are catalog details rather than observations from a hands-on inspection.
The listed 22 mm lug width is useful when checking replacement straps, but do not assume every 22 mm strap or buckle will fit a particular watch. Verify the attachment, buckle dimensions and condition of the individual example before ordering.

Price context: historical list price versus later estimates
Panerai’s October 2018 price-list document lists the PAM01537 at €8,700. That is a historical list price in euros, not a current retail price or a prediction of what a specific watch will sell for.
WatchCharts cited approximately C$13,700 as an authorized-dealer retail reference in May 2021. Its page snapshot dated 16 November 2025 showed a C$7,870 pre-owned estimate. These figures use different dates and describe different kinds of value; the estimate is not a guaranteed transaction price. Condition, location, delivery contents and market changes affect what a particular example may command.
What to check before buying one pre-owned
Because PAM01537 is a discontinued reference, evaluate the specific watch and its documentation rather than treating the model name or an online estimate as proof of value.
- Confirm the reference on the watch and its documentation; distinguish PAM01537 from the preceding PAM00537.
- Check serial details and provenance, and make sure the seller can explain the watch’s ownership history.
- Ask for service records and have condition assessed by a qualified watchmaker familiar with Panerai. The available sources do not establish a model-specific service interval or reliability rate.
- Confirm whether box, papers, original strap and buckle are included, and assess their condition. Market valuations can vary with delivery contents.
- For a replacement strap, verify that the attachment and buckle fit your particular watch; 22 mm is the listed lug width, not a guarantee that every strap setup is interchangeable.
- Compare local, dated asking prices and completed-sale evidence where available. A published estimate is not the same as a confirmed sale.
Who the PAM01537 may suit
On paper, the PAM01537 is for someone who wants a 42 mm steel Luminor 1950 with a second-time-zone function and an at-a-glance reserve indication, rather than a less complicated dial. The specification sheet cannot establish how it wears, how legible an individual example is, or whether its condition is sound. Those questions require inspection of the actual watch.
