What is the Panerai PAM00692?
PAM00692 is the Submersible BMG-Tech reference with a 47 mm case. Panerai’s regional product listing identifies its blue dial, black rubber strap and automatic P.9010 calibre, and marks the model unavailable on that page when accessed in 2026 (Panerai PAM00692 listing). A Phillips auction record describes an example from a limited edition of 1,000; the specific watch in that lot was numbered 333/1000 (Phillips lot 973).
Do not confuse it with PAM02692. Panerai’s current US product page and 2024 catalogue identify PAM02692 as a related 47 mm BMG-Tech Submersible, but it is a different reference. Those pages help confirm family specifications; they do not change the identity of PAM00692 (Panerai PAM02692 US listing; Panerai 2024 catalogue).

Panerai’s PAM02692 listing also gives 28,800 alternations per hour and specifies 26/22 strap sizing, but those are details of that related reference’s page. Confirm the exact PAM00692 configuration and strap fit rather than assuming every specification or accessory is identical.

What BMG-Tech means for the watch
BMG is short for bulk metallic glass. Time+Tide explains the material as an alloy with a glass-like amorphous structure, rather than the regular crystalline structure associated with conventional metals (Time+Tide’s PAM00692 review). It gives the watch a distinctive material identity, but the available evidence does not establish a laboratory comparison of its durability or performance against other case materials.
The blue dial and large Submersible case make the material part of a visually assertive combination. Time+Tide’s review discusses the blue dial and BMG material; Hodinkee’s reviewer also notes luminous dial markers, hands and the bezel pip (Hodinkee’s PAM00692 review).

How large does the 47 mm Submersible wear?
Expect a substantial presence. Diameter alone does not predict fit on every wrist, and the available reviews do not provide a controlled wear comparison. Hodinkee’s reviewer explicitly treats the size as a genuine consideration and describes BMG-Tech’s wrist feel as closest to steel, though slightly lighter, in both perceived mass and heat transfer. That is the reviewer’s personal impression, not a measurement or a claim about every wearer.
If possible, try the watch on before buying, particularly if you usually prefer compact cases. Check how the case spans your wrist and how the strap sits when fastened; a nominal 47 mm diameter does not settle either question.

Water resistance and dive-watch practicality
Panerai rates PAM00692 at 30 bar, approximately 300 m. That is the manufacturer’s stated water-resistance rating, not the result of an independent water test for this article. A rating alone is not a substitute for checking the condition and service history of a pre-owned watch, especially before exposing it to water.
The legibility cues documented by Hodinkee include luminous markers and hands on the dial, plus a luminous bezel pip. These are useful design features to inspect on an individual example; their condition and function should not be presumed from the model specification.

Straps and included accessories
Panerai’s PAM00692 regional page lists a black rubber strap. The official PAM02692 page specifies black caoutchouc and an additional grey textile strap, both in 26/22 sizing with a 22 mm buckle, while Wempe’s PAM00692 listing mentions an additional calfskin strap. These are reference- or seller-page details, not proof that every PAM00692 set includes the same straps.
Before ordering a replacement, verify the exact reference, lug interface and buckle dimensions with the seller or Panerai. A stated 26/22 size on the related PAM02692 page is not, by itself, confirmation of compatibility with every PAM00692 strap or buckle.

Price, availability and buying a PAM00692
There is no reliable current fair-value figure established by the available price evidence. The figures below have different dates and meanings, so they should not be treated as directly comparable market values.

For a live listing, search the exact reference PAM00692 and verify the seller, reference and serial consistency, condition, service documentation, and included papers and accessories. Phillips’ lot included a certificate, manual, additional rubber strap, adjustment tool, protective cover and presentation packaging; that describes that auction watch only.
