The Parmigiani Tonda GT Chronograph is not one specification set: the 2022 steel PFC906 pairs a chronograph with an annual calendar, while the 18 ct rose-gold PFC903 adds a big date and uses a different movement. This review focuses on the steel PFC906-1020001-400181, the more accessible of the two in the manufacturer’s historical pricing, and explains where the gold models differ. The available sources establish specifications, not hands-on comfort, measured accuracy or current availability.
What the steel Tonda GT Chronograph offers
The PFC906-1020001-400181 is a 42 mm stainless-steel chronograph with an annual calendar and small seconds. Its silver and Quantum Grey dial, fluted bezel and grey vulcanized-rubber strap give it the sportier presentation associated with the Tonda GT, while its calendar and chronograph functions make it a substantially more complicated proposition than the three-hand Tonda GT introduced in 2020.
Parmigiani Fleurier’s 2022 technical sheet describes the watch as combining a sporty character with a wealth of complications. The specifications below refer specifically to this steel annual-calendar reference, not to the rose-gold big-date models.

These are manufacturer-published technical specifications from 2022, not results from an inspection or timing test. In particular, the sheet does not state COSC certification for the steel PF043.

How the steel and rose-gold chronographs differ
The rose-gold PFC903 is a different watch, not simply a precious-metal version of the steel reference. Its calendar is a big date rather than an annual calendar, and its PF071 movement differs substantially from the steel model’s PF043.

What the specifications mean for a buyer
Choose the steel PFC906 for the annual calendar
The steel reference brings together a chronograph and an annual calendar in a 42 mm case. Its 13.7 mm height and 100 m water resistance are useful headline figures, but they do not establish how the watch wears on a particular wrist or how it performs in daily use. The supplied specifications also do not describe the calendar’s adjustment procedure, so confirm its operation and setting requirements with the retailer or watch professional before buying.
Choose the rose-gold PFC903 for its big date and PF071
The gold references trade the annual calendar for a big date and use a higher-frequency, longer-reserve movement. The manufacturer lists 5 Hz and a 65-hour reserve for the PF071, compared with 4 Hz and 45 hours for the steel PF043. The gold case is 0.6 mm thicker, and the 2022 recommended retail figure is more than twice the steel model’s. Those published differences help define the choice; they do not establish current market value or resale performance.

Do not infer measured accuracy from certification or frequency
The manufacturer’s COSC certification statement is specific to the gold PF071 model. The 2022 steel PFC906 sheet does not make that claim, and neither source provides a measured result for an individual watch. A movement’s frequency or a model-level certification statement is not a substitute for timing results on the particular example being considered.

The Tonda GT collection appeared before these chronographs. Time and Watches’ 10 July 2020 account of the original three-hand GT describes a 42 mm case, fluted bezel, “clou triangulaire” guilloché dial, delta hands, 100 m water resistance and automatic PF044 calibre with a 45-hour reserve. Those are details of the earlier three-hand collection, not specifications of the steel chronograph’s PF043 or the gold chronograph’s PF071.

That 2020 article also reported launch prices of €13,500 on strap and €14,500 on bracelet for specified steel three-hand references, plus €24,900 for a 150-piece rose-gold edition. They are launch-era figures for non-chronograph models and should not be used as prices for either chronograph.
