The Patek Philippe 5270P-014 is a platinum, manually wound perpetual calendar chronograph distinguished by a green lacquer dial that fades to a black-gradient rim. Introduced in 2022, it keeps the 5270 family’s traditional calendar-and-chronograph layout while replacing the tachymeter scale with an outer minute scale. Its 41 mm case and 12.4 mm thickness make it a substantial, information-rich dress watch; its 30 m water-resistance rating is modest. Technical details below are published specifications, while aesthetic observations are attributed to the writers who handled the watch.
What is the Patek Philippe 5270P-014?
It is the platinum version of Patek Philippe’s reference 5270 perpetual calendar chronograph, fitted with a green lacquer dial and black-gradient edge. Patek Philippe introduced the model in its 2022 Watches and Wonders material, describing the color as reminiscent of vintage-car bodywork. Phillips traces the broader 5270 family to 2011, when it launched with the brand’s caliber 29-535. Patek Philippe’s 2022 release and Phillips’ reference notes provide that context.
The suffix matters: 5270P identifies this platinum case variant, while -014 identifies the green-dial configuration discussed here. It combines a chronograph, which measures elapsed time, with a perpetual calendar that displays calendar information including the date, day, month, leap-year cycle and moon phase.

How the chronograph and perpetual calendar are arranged
The dial groups its indications in a conventional, compact layout. Day and month appear in apertures at 12 o’clock. The chronograph’s 30-minute counter sits at 3, while the hand-indicated date shares the 6 o’clock subdial with the moon phase. Small seconds, leap-year and day/night indications complete the display. The movement’s listed functions also include central chronograph seconds and an instantaneous 30-minute counter. For the exact indication layout, see Lex Stolk’s Fratello hands-on account.
A perpetual calendar is designed to account for differing month lengths and leap years without routine manual correction, subject to the mechanism’s operating limits and correct setting. It is a complicated mechanism, not a reason to ignore the manual: owners should follow Patek Philippe’s instructions for setting and operating the calendar, particularly when adjusting its indications.
What changed on the green-dial version?
Lex Stolk’s May 20, 2022 Fratello hands-on coverage identifies the dial as the most conspicuous change: lacquered green shifts to a black-gradient rim, with the tachymeter scale removed in favor of an outer minute scale. Stolk also notes that the date hand at six no longer cuts into that scale, and that the hands and markers are faceted. In his assessment, these choices make the watch feel more contemporary without abandoning the familiar perpetual-calendar chronograph arrangement. These are one writer’s observations, not an objective measure of legibility or a universal aesthetic verdict.
The result has two competing visual demands: a saturated, high-contrast color treatment and several layers of information. The retained subdial and aperture positions preserve a recognizable 5270 reading pattern; the new outer scale and faceted white-gold details alter how the eye meets the dial. Whether the green-and-black effect feels balanced is a matter of personal taste and is best judged in person.

Price, auction evidence and availability
Price references for this watch are not interchangeable. Phillips records a 2022 example sold for $152,400 at its Fall 2025 New York Sessions auction. That is a dated auction result for the lot Phillips describes as a 41 mm platinum watch with green dégradé dial, leather strap, papers and accessories—not a current dealer asking price or a valuation for every example. See the Phillips lot record.
The Hour Glass Singapore page displays a suggested retail price of SGD 356,000 and says suggested prices may change and are not a contractual obligation. That is a Singapore page value, not a universal or necessarily current price for another market. A 2022 Monochrome article gave a historical price of €189,500 and described availability as difficult at that time; it does not establish present availability or current pricing. The Hour Glass page and Monochrome’s 2022 coverage document those separate references.
Current stock and local pricing are not established by these listings. For a current quote or availability, contact Patek Philippe or an authorized retailer in the relevant market. When comparing a listing or sale, distinguish auction results from asking prices and suggested retail prices, and compare condition, papers, accessories, currency and date on a like-for-like basis.
Quick Recap
Who might appreciate the 5270P-014?
- It suits a reader drawn to traditional complication layouts: chronograph and calendar indications remain arranged in familiar positions rather than being reorganized around the dial’s color.
- The size deserves attention: the published 41 mm diameter and 12.4 mm thickness may wear more prominently than a slim dress watch. Case measurements alone cannot predict fit, so wrist try-on is useful.
- The dial is the defining stylistic choice: the green lacquer and black-gradient edge are more visually assertive than a restrained, uniform dial, while the faceted hands and markers reinforce the contrast.
- It is a mechanical watch requiring interaction: the movement is manually wound, and calendar indications call for careful setting in accordance with the maker’s guidance.
- It is not a watch for swimming: 30 m is the listed water-resistance rating; do not interpret that figure as a recommendation for aquatic use.
