The Patek Philippe Alarm Travel Time 5520RG-001 pairs a local-and-home-time display with a mechanical 24-hour alarm: its hammer strikes a classic gong. Introduced in 2024, this rose-gold reference is now listed as discontinued by Patek Philippe. Its defining visual contrast is a gray sunburst dial, charcoal details and four white-gold pusher tubes set into a rose-gold case.
The design and operating details below are based on Patek Philippe’s specifications and manual. For an actual wearing impression, Monochrome Watches’ Denis Peshkov described the profile as slim and the wearing experience as enjoyable in his review dated 29 April 2024.
How does the Patek Philippe 5520RG alarm work?
The self-winding AL 30-660 S C FUS combines Patek Philippe’s Travel Time dual-time display with a 24-hour alarm. The alarm time is shown digitally, and the mechanism sounds when a hammer strikes a classic gong, according to the manufacturer. Patek Philippe says the alarm mechanism is covered by four granted patents.
The alarm can be set in 15-minute increments. Its 24-hour format distinguishes morning and evening alarm times, rather than requiring the wearer to infer AM or PM from a 12-hour display. The four-pusher arrangement handles alarm and Travel Time functions; the official manual identifies controls for alarm on/off, local-time changes in one-hour increments, and date correction.

How do you read local time and home time?
The solid central hour hand shows local time; the skeletonized central hour hand shows home time. The date is coupled to local time, so it follows the local-time setting rather than the home-time display. Patek Philippe’s 2024 release says its Travel Time dual-time system made its debut at the end of the 1950s—a statement about the brand’s system, not a history unique to this reference.
The dial presents this information without relying on two separate conventional hour-and-minute displays: the two hour hands distinguish the time zones, while the alarm’s set time appears digitally. Patek’s instruction manual explains the operating controls and setting procedure for the 5520 family.

At 42.2 mm across, the case has a substantial diameter; the 11.6 mm thickness is the manufacturer’s stated measurement. Those dimensions alone cannot establish how it will fit a particular wrist. Monochrome’s reviewer characterized the profile as slim, an attributed subjective impression rather than a universal fit assessment.

What distinguishes the rose-gold version?
Patek Philippe describes the execution as “two-tone”: a rose-gold case is paired with four white-gold pusher tubes and a gray sunburst dial. The charcoal-gray white-gold numerals and local-time sword-style hands have luminous coating; the home-time hour hand is skeletonized. The white-gold tubes make the four controls visually distinct from the case, while the dial’s gray and charcoal elements temper the warmth of the rose gold.
Is the 5520RG discontinued?
Yes. Patek Philippe’s current product page labels the 5520RG-001 “Discontinued.” That status means it is no longer presented as a current-production reference by the manufacturer; it does not establish whether a particular authorized dealer or secondary-market seller has one available.

The 5520RG-001 followed the platinum 5520P-001, which Patek Philippe introduced in 2019. The 2024 release identifies the RG as the rose-gold version.
