Its cage also indicates seconds. That unusual layout, rather than a conventional central handset, defines the watch: an expressive, layered dial on the front and a traditionally finished manual-winding movement visible through the caseback.
How does the central tourbillon watch tell time?
RDDBEX1119 puts the flying tourbillon at the center of the dial, where a conventional watch would typically place its hands. The tourbillon cage rotates and carries the running-seconds indication. Hours and minutes are shown on peripheral rotating displays, driven by planetary gearing. In other words, the unusual appearance follows from the mechanics: the time display has to work around the central complication.
SJX Watches reported that the arrangement uses planetary gears to drive the peripheral displays, while its April 2024 launch coverage noted that the display called for more complex gearing than a conventional going train. Roger Dubuis uses “Orbis” to evoke the revolving tourbillon and circular display, and “Machina” to point to the calibre and its central flying tourbillon, as described on its official product page.
What is the pink-gold RDDBEX1119 like?
A bold, layered dial
The dial is built around concentric forms and a pronounced central mechanism, giving it a more mechanical, architectural character than a conventional time-only layout. Monochrome Watches describes the display as multi-level and reports Super-LumiNova on the hour and minute indicators and applied indices. Its hands-on account also questions the choice of labels around the time indications; that is a subjective legibility observation, not a universal verdict.

Pink-gold case and proportions
Monochrome reports an 18k pink-gold case with a notched bezel, triple lugs and crown guards. The case measures 45 mm across and 14.41 mm thick, substantial dimensions that make this a visually prominent watch. The same 2024 account gives it a 100 m water-resistance rating. That figure belongs to RDDBEX1119; it should not be confused with the different titanium reference, which the manufacturer rates at 5 bar / 50 m.
A more traditional view through the back
The caseback offers a counterpoint to the dial’s contemporary display: visible bridges and traditional movement decoration. Monochrome reports 19 finishing types for the RDDBEX1119 movement. The manufacturer describes 19 hand-finishing techniques on the titanium model’s product page, but that is a claim about RDDBEX1157 and should not be treated as an independent inspection of the pink-gold reference.

How it differs from other Orbis in Machina references
Specifications and edition details vary by reference. The current manufacturer pages show a titanium model and a separate pink-gold jeweled model; neither is the original pink-gold RDDBEX1119.
| Reference | Material and display | Published details |
|---|---|---|
| RDDBEX1119 | 18k pink gold; peripheral rotating hour and minute displays around a central flying tourbillon | 45 mm; 14.41 mm thick; 100 m water resistance; 88 pieces and CHF 180,000 excluding tax at launch in 2024, according to Monochrome and SJX |
| RDDBEX1157 | Black DLC titanium | 45 mm; 5 bar / 50 m water resistance; 72-hour power reserve; 28 limited pieces; quick-release calf strap, according to the current official page |
| RDDBEX1122 | Pink gold with a gem-set display | Eight limited pieces and 132 gemstones, according to the official product page |
Edition and component counts are not consistent across all broad overviews. SJX and Monochrome give RDDBEX1119 as 88 pieces and 283 components; Fondation Haute Horlogerie’s Orbis in Machina overview gives 28 pieces and 283 components without clearly tying the entry to RDDBEX1119. The manufacturer’s titanium page instead gives 28 limited pieces and a 277-component movement. The available published information does not conclusively reconcile those differences, so the figures are best kept attached to their specific source and reference.

What the specifications do—and do not—tell you
The tourbillon and elaborate display are defining mechanical and visual features, but the sources cited here do not provide comparative accuracy testing. The presence of a tourbillon alone is not evidence that this watch is more accurate in everyday use. Likewise, the reported water-resistance rating is a specification, not a source-backed recommendation for a particular activity.
For current availability or pricing, the 2024 launch terms for RDDBEX1119 are not a live quote. The manufacturer’s current listing for RDDBEX1157 confirms a separate titanium reference, but does not establish stock or pricing for the original pink-gold watch.
