Reference 5224R-001 is a self-winding Travel Time watch in Patek Philippe’s Calatrava line. Its defining feature is that both the local time and the home-time (second-time-zone) indication use a 24-hour scale. Patek Philippe introduced it at Watches and Wonders Geneva in 2023.
The arrangement is intended to make the distinction between day and night in each time zone visible on the dial. Unlike a conventional 12-hour display, a 24-hour indication completes one rotation over a full day. The local-time hand is rose gold and syringe-shaped; the home-time hand is skeletonized. Patek Philippe identifies the model as a travel watch for everyday use, but that description is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent assessment of wear or performance.
How does the 24-hour Travel Time display work?
The dial shows local time and home time simultaneously. Central minutes serve the time display, while a small-seconds counter sits at 6 o’clock. Because the hour indications run on a 24-hour scale, the wearer can read whether each displayed time is before or after noon without relying on a separate AM/PM indicator.

Dial, case, and strap details
Patek Philippe describes the blue dial as combining a circularly striated center with a circular satin-finished hour circle. Applied rose-gold numerals and markers have white luminescent coating, and the small-seconds counter has a rose-gilt outline. The manufacturer specifies a rose-gold case and a navy-blue calfskin strap with nubuck finish and hand stitching. These are descriptions from the official materials rather than hands-on observations.
