The Patek Philippe Calatrava 24-Hour Display Travel Time 5224R-001 is a rose-gold dual-time watch whose central display uses a 24-hour cycle rather than the more familiar 12-hour format. Patek Philippe introduced it on 27 March 2023. The available information here is the manufacturer’s launch description and product specifications—not a record of independent handling or wear testing.
What is the Patek Philippe 5224R-001?
The 5224R-001 is part of Patek Philippe’s Calatrava line. The manufacturer describes it as a self-winding Travel Time watch with two time zones, small seconds, and an original 24-hour indication. Its combination of rose-gold case, blue dial, and navy-blue calfskin strap gives the complication a conventional Calatrava setting rather than a purpose-built tool-watch appearance. Patek Philippe’s current product page lists the reference as 5224R-001; the company announced it for Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023 in a press release dated 27 March 2023.
How does the 24-hour display work?
Two central hour hands indicate local and home time against a 24-hour circle. Unlike a standard 12-hour dial, each position represents one specific point in a full day-and-night cycle: the hand completes one revolution in 24 hours. The wearer can therefore distinguish morning from evening directly from the hand’s position, without needing a separate day/night indicator.
Patek Philippe places noon at 12 o’clock on the dial, rather than at 6 o’clock, and says this arrangement supports legibility during daytime hours. That is the manufacturer’s rationale, not an independently tested legibility finding. The product page identifies the local-time hand as a luminous rose-gold syringe shape and the home-time hand as a skeletonized rose-gold syringe shape.

Adjusting the second time zone
Patek Philippe says one of the hour hands can be moved forward or backward in one-hour steps. This lets the wearer adjust the displayed time-zone difference without moving the other hour indication in tandem. The materials cited here do not describe the control sequence in enough detail to provide a step-by-step setting procedure.

What is notable about caliber 31-260 PS FUS 24H?
In its launch release, Patek Philippe says its engineers began with the 31-260 ultra-thin automatic base caliber and added the 24-hour and Travel Time mechanisms. The company also discusses changes made to the movement in earlier applications; those details are the manufacturer’s account of its development history, rather than an independent movement analysis.
The resulting specification is a self-winding movement with a minimum 48-hour power reserve and a 4 Hz frequency, according to the current product page. Those published figures describe the movement’s stated design characteristics; they do not establish real-world timekeeping accuracy or reserve in a particular watch.

What the specifications do—and do not—tell you
The 24-hour indication and one-hour adjustment increments are the clearest functional distinctions to weigh when comparing the 5224R-001 with another dual-time watch. Other useful comparison points are case material and dimensions, water resistance, movement and stated power reserve, and strap or bracelet configuration. These specifications support a feature-by-feature comparison, but do not establish a tested ranking against other watches.
Patek Philippe calls the watch “A travel watch for everyday use” and describes its indication as original. These are the manufacturer’s product-page words, not independent assessments of comfort, practical durability, or ease of reading.
