The 2023 TAG Heuer Carrera Glassbox is a 39mm automatic chronograph whose identity comes from its dramatically domed sapphire crystal and dial shaped to follow it. Fratello covered two original strap references, the blue-dial CBS2212.FC6535 and black-dial CBS2210.FC6534, as part of the Carrera chronograph’s 60th-anniversary celebration. The later panda-dial CBS2216.BA0041 is a separate variant, not one of those original strap models.
What makes the 2023 Carrera Glassbox distinctive?
The “Glassbox” name points to the domed sapphire crystal, but the visual effect depends on more than the crystal alone. Fratello describes a shaped dial that curves toward the crystal: it is concave near the tachymeter scale, then convex toward the edge. The scale rises toward the crystal, and the applied markers follow the dial’s slope. Fratello’s reviewer judged the result balanced and said the dial profile helps make the tachymeter scale easier to read.
That distinctive construction gives the watch its depth and changes how the dial reads from different angles. One trade-off noted in Fratello’s hands-on review is that the central chronograph seconds hand can partly obscure the date. The date window also sits higher than it did on the original Carrera design.

How does the 2024 panda version differ?
The CBS2216.BA0041 is a later, separate 39mm panda-dial variant. Hodinkee’s April 11, 2024 hands-on article lists it at 13.86mm thick, 46mm lug-to-lug, and 100m water resistance, and describes it as delivered on a three-link steel bracelet. Hodinkee reported a historical price of CHF 6,500 in 2024.

The same review characterized the watch as a balanced 39mm automatic chronograph with a distinctive dial and strong Carrera heritage; those are the reviewer’s assessments, not instrumented performance findings.
