The Patek Philippe 5330G-001 combines a World Time display with a date that follows the time zone selected at 12 o’clock. A pusher at 10 o’clock advances that selection in one-hour steps, while a red-tipped transparent hand indicates the corresponding date on the dial flange. The result is a practical twist on the familiar city-ring world timer: the date is tied to the displayed local time, not left fixed to a home zone.
How does the date work on the Patek Philippe 5330G?
The World Time display uses a city disk and a 24-hour disk to show the time across 24 zones. The city positioned at 12 o’clock is the selected zone; the center hands show its local time. Patek Philippe says a patented differential system links the date to that local-time selection. A red-tipped transparent central hand points to the date printed around the dial flange. Changing the selected time zone
Pressing the pusher at 10 o’clock advances the city disk, 24-hour disk and center hour hand together in one-hour steps. The date is synchronized with the newly selected local time. Patek Philippe describes this established World Time adjustment as changing zones without affecting minute and seconds accuracy; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent accuracy test.
What makes the date unusual
Many world-time watches show several zones at once, but a date display may remain associated with a fixed reference time. On the 5330G-001, the date indication follows the selected city and its center-hand time. Patek Philippe calls this a “world first” in its 2024 release. That wording is the company’s claim; it has not been independently established here against every competing watch or patent record.

Launch history: from the 2023 limited edition to the regular collection
Patek Philippe says Reference 5330 first appeared as a limited edition at its Watch Art exhibition in Tokyo in June 2023. The white-gold 5330G-001 joined the regular collection in 2024. The distinction matters: the 2023 launch was the reference’s limited-edition debut, while the 5330G-001 is the regular-collection version described on the current product page.
In its April 9, 2024 release, Patek Philippe traces its World Time complication to Geneva watchmaker Louis Cottier in the 1930s. The company says that from the early 1950s its display used a city disk and a 24-hour disk to show 24 zones. It also credits a 1999-patented improvement, introduced with Reference 5110 in 2000, for enabling coordinated one-hour zone changes via a pusher. The date differential on the 5330G-001 adds to that established mechanism. These historical details are Patek Philippe’s account. (Patek Philippe press release, April 9, 2024)
